Excellent coffee, superb views of the Abbey. No disabled access but you could sit outside in fine weather. Soups tend to be too spicy. Those with children not made to feel especially welcome? - feeling of child patrons being a 'necessary evil'. The savouries are over-priced for what you get. The cakes are pretty awesome! As are the scones. Sometimes... More

We had a very pleasant lunch, freshly made and served with a smile. We even bought some books. Great place for a bite - the soup was excellent.

stopped by the way during a longer drive that day - and after seeing the Abbey noticed this place by the parking - do not know, had we been so hungry, or the cakes were really so good :) as mentioned - missed the soup of the day, unfortunatelly (after all those fish&chips...). the staff was really friendly!

We walked past this cafe whilst wandering around town and we stopped to chat to the lady who was working there. She was very friendly. So, after our tour of the town, we decided to go here for something to eat and drink. A lovely comfortable interior and good food and service makes this cafe one the we can recommend.

We only wanted to reflect on our visit to the Abbey ruins and where not hungry but felt a coffee and a piece of cake would go down well and the Abbey View Cafe looked inviting and we where not disappointed.

Stopped for a cuppa, and this cafe did what it needed to do. Only 5/6 small tables, but a good selection of home made food. Soup, sandwiches and paninis looked good. We just had tea, with a cheese scone and toasted tea cake. Both were very nice, and the service was good. Very reasonable pricing too. Worth a visit.

Popped over the border and stopped at the Abbey View late in the day as they were still serving. Staff were very helpful, the food was quick to arrive and was enjoyable. Nice atmosphere in the cafe with the bookshelves and the view of the abbey was lovely

Dropped in for a break while driving to Scotland. Was disappointed with the toasted sandwiches, they were nicely presented with coleslaw and salad garnish but lacking in fillings so it was more like toast than a toastie.

called here for soup as it was freezing after a tour of the abbey .Not sure about trying to sell books as a side line though as area for perusal very tight and not conducive to bookbuying
