Once again (although the last visit was almost 4 years ago) we went to Santillana del Mar for an autumn holiday; and again, we ate at Casa Cossio , three times in this particular week! The ribs were, as ever, the best I've had. but...the chicken, calamari and salads were excellent too. We also popped in just for drinks from time to time, the hot chocolate and churrios are as good as anywhere else in town. Best of all though is the excellent and truly friendly service there. We were treated like good friends rather than customers and this made the meals all the more enjoyable.More

Great food, friendly service, warm atmosphere. The seafood was fresh and pork off the grill was delicious. They have wonderful homemade desserts!

We ordered salads, fried eggs with bacon and chips and 1/2 chicken with chips and peppers. The chicken was terrible. It was supposed to be grilled but was cooked in the morning at best and served clearly after many hours. It was overcooked, came floating...in a strange liquid together with potato chips and a few slices of cold peppers. I could not eat it. Salad and eggs were eatable.More

Great bar & friendly staff - HUGE grill & great ribs! The meats are are slowly roasted over a wood burning grill & the meat is so tender it is unbelievable... Mind the spicy sauce - it is hot!!

We ate there (again) twice in two days this time. Couldn't help it but have the ribs both days too! Which was just as well, they closed the day after and won't be open again until sometime in December! Absolutely excellent food, good service from...lovely people and all at a really reasonable price!More

As we only came in for drinks, we cannot comment on the food - hence my neutral marking. There is no doubt that this is an attractive restaurant and the large, open barbecue with huge slabs of ribs thereon, made me wish we were staying...longer. It's hard to gain an accurate impression on one short visit, but I must say that the two ladies behind the counter should learn to smile a bit. Being friendly and nice to customers is really part of the job you know!More

This charming town is full of very good restaurants. Some a bit touristy but generally of high quality. For something rather different I recommend you try out Casa Cossio and sit close to the large pit fire grill watching your ribs be cooked to perfection....The menu offers good food at average prices.More

Loved the way they cook with the open fire. Amazing ribs! Ate here twice and enjoyed it both times. Not much English spoken but had no problems communicating.

Lunch menu for 14€ with local produce/dishes, however nothin impressive, in my opinion. We thought our Cocido Montañes starter was plentyful and pretty good, however the maijs where some how small and will little effort on them.

Very authentic atmosphere at this restaurant. Very helpful staff. Great prawns and ribs eaten whilst the display of the chef and the grill was very entertaining. Many of the customers were Spanish which speaks volumes to the quality. A highlight to our visit.

I know others claimed it was reasonably priced, but my read of the menu suggested otherwise, so we did not eat dinner here. Pity as the breakfast of tostada y café (toasted baguette with peach jam) was nice and I had a couple of nice...sundowner beers one evening sitting outside watching the Spanish film crew pack up, very scenic and can(y)as were cheap enough. My boys had chocolate and churros which was clearly frozen and fried and served with powdered cola cao, which was a tad disappointing. Overall, it was fine and seemed popular enough, but when they advertise bocadillos (baguettes) at €6 it can put you off?More

We ate here on our first night in the area and did not eat in Santillana again after the experience. The main dishes came with plain fries, the children's spaghetti with a cheap canned tomato sauce and the waitress was run off her feet and...not shy about letting customers know she was not happy. Many better places to eat outside Santillana.More

There are a lot of tourist traps here. This isn't one of them. A charming waitress took the order for ribs, which we could see cooking on a roaring fire. They didn't disappoint. Well cooked, tasty and beautifully seasoned. All washed down with beers. Perfect.
