Surely you will notice it is right at the center of your visit to Kobarid. After traveling a few kilometers we stopped here for dinner.... I would say excellent.... a nice and large grilled meat, ber cooked and well presented with attached grilled vegetables and chips... good local wine, very kind staff, clean bathroom.... and is not to be overlooked.....

FOOD We tried fish: two lobster pastas. It wasn't great. The lobster didn't taste like it was frozen. The hearty pasta but only tasted like a nut.

Stopped there for lunch. The waiter escorted us to the table and offered us a menu. Professional attitude, but nothing more than that!
The food we ordered was fresh, well prepared and tasty, needed a bit of additional black pepper and salt. We both also missed something with the food – a personal touch, maybe?! I am not sure!
The house white wine was very good and fresh. Good accompany with seefood!
Will we come back? Probably!

Stop because you're out on holiday... good appearance but the quality of the food (in my case risotto with local "porcini" mushrooms...) without taste, actually the acidic and bitter mushroom... a shame given the cost!
Chewy bread.. but still!!
Professional but cold waiter... very respectful and the boy who served the table was friendly...
Next time we'll send elsewhere!

Wow, I am amazed at the poor ratings for Kotlar — we just returned from an excellent meal. Maybe they treated us better because we were a big group of 15, but the food and service was outstanding. We started with an appetizer of mushroom risotto and bread, followed by trout filets over new potatoes and baked spinach and a green salad with tomatoes … it was all extremely tasty! Several bottles of wine were also consumed, and the waiters insured that our glasses were not empty. We then had our choice of desserts, either tiramisu, ice cream or panna cotta. With food and service like we experienced, I would definitely return.

The food was excellent, their service was so friendly that I never seen before in my whole life. The prices are good. Meat was soft and tasty, the fish my wife ordered was fresh and very yummy. Looking forward to go back again and again and again. 5 star isnt enough

The waistaff was very attentive, but, lordy, this place was overpriced and the food wasn't particularly good. I had what was labeled as lamb but am not convinced that was what was served to me; whatever it was, it was dried out and over-salted. The fried potatoes it was served with were fine, but that wasn't what I was paying the steep price for. Wish I'd gone somewhere else.

I visited Restaurant Kotlar with high expectations, but the experience was deeply disappointing due to the abysmal service. The staff made us feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests, which was thoroughly off-putting. While the food was passable, the service was a disaster, ruining the overall dining experience. It's disheartening when poor service overshadows what could have been a pleasant meal. I hope the management takes note and makes the necessary improvements.

We had a very nice lunch here in Kobarid at this restaurant. The food was very good quality and tasted great. Lots of options for carnivores but limited options for vegetarians, unless you like a lot of mushroom options. That said, the vegetarian porcini mushroom risotto did taste good. The staff were friendly and professional, but the place seemed understaffed that day.
Important to note that COVID-19 protocols did not seem to be observed by the staff, who were not wearing any masks.

We made a stop in Kobarind to have a coffee at the Restaurant "Restavracija Kotlar". It was the 20th of June at almost 3 PM and the Restaurant has somewhat customers. Because my wife was handicaped, we can*t walk that much. But the Service Guy said in a roughly sound, that we can't have only a coffee.

Went for dinner, a nice terrace at the city square. It is quite unique and they serve you very well. Prices are decent and food is delicious and well prepared. They serve also good house wine. We had the seafood risotto and pasta bolognese. Service is quite fast and the food came hot. The taste was excellent, both the risotto and the pasta tasted very good.

Excellent food, very professional and discrete service.
We came in by accident and were very surprised by the high quality of food.
Delicious spag bolognese, fish soup and grilled calamari.
Highly recommend and we will for sure come back!!

The portions are huge and good value for money. However, as other posters said there was that missing original touch which makes the food stand out. So, although the food was good it had that something lacking.

We have been there as a family of four. Good news first: The service was very good. We really appreciated the gentle and professional quality of being taking care for. The overall appearance of the place also did not fail to make a positive impression (though it doesn’t stick out).
Pricing is a bit higher than average for that region but not exaggerating.
For the food itself. Well, yes. No reason to complain. At least for the meat and the fish we had. Quite an impeccable but uninspired preparation and presentation made this kind of a „standard“ experience. Not bad at all, but also not what you would hope for.
The presentation of seafood and pasta at the tables next to us made a much better impression. so maybe we had some kind of a suboptimal pick. Still it is what it is, we can only judge what we had.
