Our family of 4 had a great time learning how to prepare several Jordanian/Mediterranean/Middle Eastern dishes. The food was plentiful and we were stuffed at the end. Our only suggestion would be to substitute one of the cold/salad-type dishes for something else (like another hot...dish or a dessert). Something more challenging or a bit less well-know.More

I was travelling solo and decided to join this experience to learn how to cook Jordanian food and learn more about their awesome culture. In addition to me there was an american group of 4 people with a guide, which we all do the experience...together, and was a great experience all in all to be able to share this with other people from other places. The cooks and staff was very kind and knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning the different spices, receipts and explanations about the different dishes. And at the end we enjoyed what was cooked which was delicious from the starters to the dessert. I really recommend the experience!More

If your idea of a great evening (or dinner) out is spending time chopping in the kitchen while a chef berates you--often brandishing his cleaver if you even dare to even talk to your neighbor or fail to chop your parsley fine enough--then by all...means The Petra Kitchen is for you. What's more, the results aren't that tasty (at least compared to other meals we ate all over Jordan) . It certainly was not the best we had--with the exception of the lentil soup which we all agreed with top notch. So we were thrilled to get recipes at the end--only to discover that the recipes didn't match what we cooked. The soup makers used several ingredients (including potatoes, for instance) that weren't on the recipes. While the salad makers noted that the dishes they prepared dishes didn't include many of the ingredients called for on the recipes. So neither fun nor tasty. If you want a really good kitchen experience, best save it for Amman and Beit Sitti's cooking class which was fun, informative and incredibly delicious.More

Loved the cooking class & we were lucky only 4 of us that day , which gave us a great chance to really get involved with each dish. You all eat together once the cooking is done. Made a selection of both hot and cold...mezze, a soup, the star dish , which was a rice and chicken dish and some delicious arayes. Chef was funny and smiling throughout. Surprise of warm Arabic dessert served to us but I was much too full by then so they kindly packed it away for me to takeaway.More

If you like to cook some of your dinner, this is the place for you. There were about 2 dozen people attending. We all got to help prepare several courses of the meal we later got to eat. The whole experience was well managed. It...was evident that The Petra Kitchen has done this with many groups. We had a lot of fun, and the food was very good.More

We ate here as part of our tour. I did not like how they mixed us with other groups, especially with the ongoing concerns. It really was not what I expected, I peeled and cut a carrot, chopped 2 cloves of garlic and diced a...tomato. The food was good in the end, but overall it was too crowded to see what was going on with the the aspects of the meal. I did not get much out of the experience. They also did not have enough seats at our assigned table for our group for the dinner so some had to eat elsewhere. We were jammed in the table as it was and they kept bumping into us every time they had to get a soft drink from the refrigerator.More

If you want to have a fun night out when in Petra, I recommend going to Petra Kitchen. When you enter, you will see a row of seats for people who came for the night's cooking event and a set of immaculately clean working tables....Guests go to the tables to begin doing food preparation after an introduction to the concept of the place. The work done by the guests is mainly chopping food and mixing items together for dishes. Interaction abounds along with the instructions. Much of the cooking for the main dishes was done by the professional cooks there. While we watched them, the working tables - pretty messy after our efforts - were transformed into clean dining room tables. The food was excellent. They serve no wine but, on request, the manager went to a store to get wine for those wanting it with the meal. At the end of the meal, everyone receives a booklet with the menus for everything we ate. The whole experience was a great delight.More

After spending an entire morning and early afternoon in Petra we were in need of an activity in the evening. The cooking class offered by Petra Kitchen was exactly what we were looking for. You have an opportunity to cook some amazing food and then...share a wonderful meal that you and the other guests have prepared. The Musakhan we helped to prepare was delicious and we even had some leftovers to bring back to the hotel! Having participated in other cooking classes around the world I would say that this is well worth the money and a great way to spend an evening.More

In a party of six, under direction of the chef, we cooked ourselves a four course Jordanian meal. The chef was fun. Using all fresh vegetables, we made a variety of dishes from lentil soup, lamb arayes and Kofta. Recipes were all provided to us....Warning.. practice peeling a charred eggplant to avoid a very smoky tasting baba ganoush. A great thing to do.More

You can just dine as we did also. No need to participate in a class. The food is plentiful and economical. Our tour driver referred us there and it was fine.

Kids would be fine - but I'd pop in and make a reservation when you arrive. Popular with groups and seemed to be on the radar for certain guides too.

Wine isn't available, soft drinks only. My guide book said you can take wine but no one did when we went and to be honest after a tiring day hiking around Petra we didn't want any. Enjoy!
