Favorite Review

Delicious tasting menu focussing on local produce

The tasting menu offered a good range of local foods prepared to a high standard. My personal favourite was the trout served tartare and as a sushi. Lots of good wines available by the glass to accompany guided by friendly knowledgeable staff. A nice special night out.

Great inovative restaurant

First time in this restaurant. We exoected dinestuc food but when we went in the restaurant we were surprised with the offer Cheef was very professional. He offered a 5 step plates with a great explanation for each plate. Teast of all of them was amazing. Wine offered was an orange one. You should go to this restaurant if you are in Vipavska diliba.

The restaurant has a beautiful terrace where you can sit and enjoy delicious food while watching the river. We liked the approach of the Chef, who came to the table and arranged the menu with each individual. I enjoyed each one of six courses. Especially, I liked the combination of meat and pomegranate. Well done!

I normally don’t write review ,but few things made me do it . My friend who is local btw (later will explain why I highlighted local) and I were in restaurant the beginning started well (was us and 1more table there) the many wasn’t shoved to us so we decided to try 5corse many ,we were not amazed but wasn’t to bad (we were experienced before this type of dining and was much more professional done) .The detail what caught my eyes was not synchronized service.The gentleman who was serving us was better than lady(I have to admit) . Everything was in rush the food and drinks were not explained properly ,no one asked In beginning about allergies and dislikes so they can create proper 5 course many according our preferences. Cos one of course my friend didn’t like ,neither do I ,later During night made Our tummy sick (we were not allergic just we don’t eat normally that type of meat, so ur tummy was forced to digest it ) . I was speaking English in beginning and my friend Slovenian so waiter could speak Croatian which both my friend and me understand ,so we switched .From that moment Whole service went down .Not to mention that rest of guests were only foreigners (German ,Italian etc) . We felt little not welcomed by their service.In the end the waiter came told us amount of our bill and not gave us any printed paper or anything.From the shock we didn’t asked (I know it is our fault) . Writing all this with hope you will do it better for someone else.For the prices what guest us paying must be better food and service . The spot of restaurant is amazing and lovely,it worth visiting ,if you have eyes for details ,don’t expect extraordinary and spectacular. Draga and Ela❤️

Dissapointment

I have discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago, and I was immediately astonished by location and their creativity. However, the restaurant was one of my favorites until the last time. Last experience has changed everything. Formerly, I have been consistently treated properly by chef, who always personally presented his creations. What it was obscuring was behavior of the waiter, who was most of our visits unfriendly and confused, he even denied we have made a reservation. We felt unwelcome by him, like he would like to kick us out and could not care less. However, when the chef considered us well, also became more friendly. Because of exceptional food we were to keep coming back. Nevertheless, last time when we came (after they denied our reservation), they provided us with tasteless, basic, chef didn't greet us or represent his creations (we ordered a degustation menu), furthermore chef and waiter had a loud fight in the kitchen and whole restaurant was shocked. Therefore, we left truly disappointed (and we paid like 250 EUR +) and will probably not come again. I am extremely sorry that this restaurant changed so much. Good luck with everything

Food was ok. Plastic plates and place mats, interior and presentation are cheap and tacky. Prices are high if compared with the Michelin star graded restaurants in the area. Waiter opened a bottle of sparkling wine on the way to our table without any of us ordering it and than tried to sell it us, which I’ve found quite arrogant.

Not nice memories from Vipava, unfortunately…

Nice place with not nice food and bad service. When you try to be a Michelin and you are not evem M from Michelin. My suggestion to Chef is to change menu completely. Tartar beefsteak with mayonnaise, wtf👎 soup in small glass and waiter suggestion to drink it like tequila. No menu and prices. Thos is my first review with 2 stars… no more comments…

Dear Avdo We appreciate any kind of review from our valued customers, bad or positive and we try to learn from that feedback. We usually do not repsond to reviews, however, after reading your rather untrue post we felt compelled. With your wtf comments you just show where your level of communication is... We are a small boutique restaurant which requires prior reservation, with our own menu which we change on monthly basis. This menu includes 3-6 courses and we introduce our wine section menu which is optional. You arrived with two other guests without a reservation and after explaining to you that we are fully booked you insisted. You wanted us to prepare pizza or chevapi and after we explained we dont have a menu or that type of food you still insisted to find a table and because you traveled from far we agreed but with our food option. You agreed. Our server explained each dish very carefully and we complied to your requests to remove any prosciutto and certain herbal spices. Regarding the soup we never mentioned anything about a tequila so that is very shocking to hear. After, we shook hands. You said you were very pleased and happy with everyone and everything which is why we are very surprised to hear your feedback. It is obviously not your tipe of restaurant, you can't even find the difference between beefstake and tartar, so you better stick to pizza and chevapi.

A wonderful tucked away gem

It's worth finding this restaurant tucked away behind the main square, we ate here twice and were not disappointed with the quality of the food, wine and exceptional service. The guys are really friendly, explain all the courses, know their wine and were great at wine pairing. There is no menu, just marvellous tasting menus of several courses. Can't recommend highly enough.

Charming location

Located on one of the springs of the river Vipava it offers a charming ambient. Fresh and local ingredients were muddled and heavy by the exaggeration of flavor combinations, therefore hard to digest. Surprisingly our meat main was better than the fish. The staff is nice, but some waiting for the food went a bit long.

Perfect!

I found this while on the road from sea to the mountains and couldn’t find better! The food looks nice, modern, they give you nice verbal presentation of the food on your plate... Terrace - it’s set over a river (looks like tiny lake) and it’s lovely. You’ll eat some known ingredients, prepared in a special, new way. And the bill at the end won’t be as high as you could expect.

Wow wow wow!

We were very lucky to stumble across this amazing restaurant whilst exploring Vipava. There is no menu, instead they offer tasting menus which they seem to change regularly. Between us we had both the meat and fish 4 course tasting menu for lunch. The food was incredible! Honestly one of the best meals we’ve had! Also very reasonable, this would cost an arm and leg in London! The service was also very very good. Staff were knowledgeable and recommended wine pairing with each course, 5 star dining! This is restaurant is a must! Highly recommend

Michelin star comming soon

I visited the restaurant with my girlfriend on a friend's recommendation. We had a great time, the ambiance is beautiful, the waiters Edvin and Luka are very friendly, and the food is phenomenal. Kudos to the chef who put together the dishes in a creative way and to the waiters who suggested an excellent wine for each course and explained each dish individually. The experience was beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Nice experience

Very nice location in Vipava. We went there for food week, so they offer a taste of their specialites. The food is good, also wines. But you will not be full when you finish to eat. Average per person is around 50€, for a taste of good food.

Highest quality lunch

If you want Michelin standard dining with less formality and a much lower price, this is the place. We booked for a Friday lunch before leaving the UK. We sat inside,despite the sunny terrace, due to some noisy construction work nearly but we were not disappointed. We took the tasting menu with wine pairing and lost count of the courses,. The dishes were creative, full of flavour and perfectly executed. A holiday highlight!

Raffinemement and delicacy

Excellent little gem hidden in the back of the town. Nice atmosphere and very good service. Food was outstanding. We liked the soup that was offered as amuse bouche,the trout was very delicate,the tartare was crunchy and the asparagus risotto was excellent. The meat at the end was a little hard but taste was good. Overall a pleasant experience
