Pleasant restaurant in a beautiful area. It has a rustic setting that is absolutely not heavy.
The cuisine is refined, tending towards a modern reinterpretation of traditional seasonal dishes.
It hasn't always met my tastes, but I recognize the chef's commitment.
The presentation of the dishes is very careful.
Local wines, good, but still far from those of the nearby Italian Collio.
Prices higher than those of similar (and perhaps slightly better) restaurants in the surrounding Slovenian territory.

Best food we had for the Balkan trip. We travelled as part of a tour group and this place was a gem for its food, service and location.
Located near a vineyard at a remote place and we walked abt 600 m from the car park.
Lovely restaurant, great starter, main and dessert with wine and amazing service.
The suckling pig was tender and tasty.
Highly recommended.

This was my 4th time here, I love the simple, but elevated outdoor setting. Food is quite creative and nice, wines not as much, not all anyway, you don't need necessarily go for very local suggestions, ask for something from Brda instead. Great for weekend lunch, especially in the spring/summer. Prices are bit higher but not too high. Always friendly service.

We decided to make a stop when we were travelling to Goriška brda. We called to make a reservation 15 min before our arrival. They were very friendy and we got the last table for lunch. They have numerous vegetarian options and we were able to costumize our menu, 4 courses were more than enough. Highlight of the menu was beetroot pancake which was one of the tastiest dishes we have ever tried. Food was light and ingrediants were grown on the garden infront od the house. We felt like we are in Provence. Their service was amazing, they are kind and attentive. In looks like family run bussines. It is very kid and dog friendy also. Food was amazing. You have to get a vanilla ice cream with figs cooked in rhum. It was the most perfect and light summer dessert you can imagine. Worth a visit!

I was on a group tour and we had a reservation for dinner. The passion of the owner was perceivable from the first moment we entered the location. The served food was outstanding and I really appreciated the subtle selection of local and traditional products. Also the wine paring showed the immense experience and knowledge of the chef.
Many thanks for the huge selection of well aged wines at a decent price.
See you again, for sure

The meal we had a Majerija was hands down the best meal we had in Slovenia. We even made the mistake of going to the Michelin starred place in the valley (not realising that it had such status) only to wish we were back at Majerija.
The food is delicious, its all presented as a surprise and the wine which we were recommended Guerrilla was also excellent. We found the prices to be fair and the service very impressive. After the meal we were invited down to the cellar for some liqueur tastings. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with big wide doors that open on summers' night. A meal here is a definite must if you're in the area.
We also stayed over in their B&B rooms for 2 nights, the breakfasts are good, the rooms are comfortable - be aware that the rooms are built underground, with the herb garden above you. The natural light is via sky-lights. A clever concept when expansion is restricted due to severe building regulations. You arrive and are told you can choose any room you like. The ones closes to the main entrance are possibly better ventilated. The loo is in the room (behind a curtain) so its not suitable for a couple who aren't actually a couple. A great place to stay if you're eating there, no need to drive!

Not really sure how this place is so highly rated.
Found staff very rude and unfriendly. We arrived early and rang the number on the door which ended up getting dirty looks from the host for arriving before two.
Not honest whatsoever when it comes to pricing. Very overpriced for the area.
The wine pairing is an absolute rip off and not the greatest of wines either. We asked a question on one of the wines and the waiter didn’t seem to have a clue. We did wine tasting in slap and vipava both were miles ahead of this place.
Food was ok - the main was Christmas dinner not really something we were looking for in august.
Breakfast is ten euro pp and is very poor. Barely anything to eat.
Our bill was completely wrong. Thankfully we are in the habit of checking. No apologises whatsoever for all the additional charges + the dishonesty over price.

Went for a celebratory lunch with extended family and opted for a 4-course menu which came in meat and vegetarian option. Meat carpaccio for starter was lovingly fresh with addition of salad, raspberries and blueberries, home-made pasta with tarragon amazing, while the main course of pork wraps with asparagus were simply divine. Extremely attentive staff, wondeful setting and a wondefully leisurely setting.

One of the best dinning experiences in the area. After a long day it was very pleasant to enjoy great food and wines which Matej selected for us.
Definetly a place which you shouldnt skup while in the area.

The food and wine are as good as it gets and the service is as well. The care and attention to presentation is a delight. We had 2 evening meals and each time was special. If you can you have to eat here. Breakfast was also very good .
The accommodation is unique and simple. Sleeping underground with a skylight is a new one for us. My only comment is that I prefer my bathroom to have a wall and door separating it from the room, not just a curtain.
This is a unique place and we thought it was wonderful.

Superb dining experience. My partner and I went for my birthday and enjoyed sitting outdoors in the courtyard. We had the vegetarian courses and they were exceptional. Lovely staff and delicious, well-presented food.

Had dinner as part of our hotel stay for a night.
The welcome is warm and the food is just as Matej, the chef describes here…
‘The base of everything is tradition. I try to moderate it, to interpret it in interesting ways, but I don’t want to lose anything, its essential character. I’m particularly keen on using fresh, seasonal, ingredients. I especially like to use herbs (and there are 40+ to choose from nearby) in new and different ways. You just have to look outside – you’ll see most of our garden is given over to herbs. The most essential point is that I almost always use fresh herbs, that contributes to the seasonality of the dish as a whole. Basil, for example, is only any good between April and November.’
‘The wonderful things about Slovenian food – the important thing – is that it is a kind of culinary cross-roads. There is the Austrian-alpine influence; the Italian influence; the Balkan influence – from the area that was once Yugoslavia; and the influence of Slovenia itself. In the springs and summers our best food is borrowed from the Mediterranean, whereas in the autumn and winter we use ingredients grown further inland, heavier and rich, Austro-Hungarian.’ Chef Matej
The menu changes every two months. The wine list is also chosen according to the same philosophy. There are about 150 labels all from producers in the Vipava area.
Our dinner included the following.
• Vegetable cubes, two colors (green bottom is a mixture of peas and zucchini in fennel water, orange top is mixture of red pepper and tomato), topped with cream, dried chives.
• Au gratin beetroot pocket, on top of pasta, sprinkled with pine nuts and a sprig of fresh sage
• Parmesan polenta, chicken, zucchini carpaccio, and almonds.
• Home-made ‘ricotta’ cream with elderflower sorbet and a salad of nectarines, strawberries, and blueberries. A little vanilla and lemon zest mixed into it. Refreshing.
• Yogurt foam, blueberries, cookie crumbs in shooter glass.
All interesting combinations. We got to visit the old stone vaulted wine cellar after dinner. Matej covered its interesting history as well. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. Outdoor and indoor seating available (weather permitting).
I can see why Gault & Millau gave it a 15.5/20 in 2023.
A definite place to enjoy a good, well-thought-out meal.

The winery/hotel is set in a lovely area of vineyards. Dinner with local wines was fabulous. The subterranean rooms were amazing and very comfortable. Service flawless!
