We visited Serenade restaurant on 2 occasions during our stay in Cabarete (Feb 2020). On the first visit the food was excellent but the service was lacking. We decided to give the place a 2nd chance and are SOOO happy that we did! Despite really...slow service on the 1st visit, the wait staff all remembered us when we returned the following week - even remembering our drink orders! It was like night and day and we know that we just caught an off-day on our first attempt. We met Chef Bongo who is also Canadian. He has developed a wonderfully full menu with a wide selection of choices.....by far the most extensive menu we encountered in Cabarete. I have enjoyed African Peanut soup many times, but now they all pale in comparison to Chef Bongo's version. This is a MUST TRY! All f the dishes we tried were excellent, but the peanut soup stood out. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and reasonable prices. We can't wait to return again next yearMore

We came upon this restaurant after doing a search of Cabarete eateries that we had not already tried. Lunch was well presented, reasonably priced, lovely ambiance, clean. We would recommend this place for sure. Service was good although they weren’t very busy when we went.

Best food in town! We’ve come to Cabarete for the last 4 years and just found this jewel of a restaurant. It was delicious!!! The presentation of our dishes added to the experience. The prices were reasonable for the portions and quality. We sent our...compliments to the chief, and he visited our table. He’s new in town. Try his food quickly before some other restaurant tries to steal him.More

Went to this restaurant for Mongolian buffet (every Wednesday night). This was our first experience eating/experiencing this type of food/cooking. You choose from a good selection of vegetables, starch, and meat, and they grill it all in front of you, adding your choice of four...different sauces (or a combination). There were lots of vegetables, rice and noodles, spicy/savoury add ins (fresh garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, plum sauce), and beef, chicken, pork, and fish (sea bass) to choose from (as much or as little as you like; you put in on your plate yourself). The sauce choices are ginger, coriander, peanut, and soy. It was absolutely delicious!! All you can eat, including desserts for 750 pesos (about $18.65 Cdn)...which I think is very reasonable. Open air seating. Very friendly staff. They have lobster and shrimp night on Fridays; will have to check that out too!More

Rumour had it that Serenade Restaurant, located on Cabarete Beach in Villa Taina Hotel, DR, had a new African-Canadian executive chef, so my husband and I decided to pay them a visit. Our feast started out with a decadent Cognac Lobster Bisque, which was endearingly...reminiscent of the authentic bisque I experienced in Maine last summer. The next pleasant surprise was an Avocado Baby Shrimp Arugula Tower drizzled with a drool-worthy Passionfruit, Mango-dill Sauce, which was just as much a feast for the eyes as for the taste buds. Meanwhile, my husband devoured his Salmon and Tuna Tartare with Ginger-soy Vinaigrette, Avocado and Wasabi Mousse and Plantain Chips, which was a dish worth getting dressed up for. Our culinary experience continued with a spectacular pan-roasted Mahi Mahi Filet in Lemon, Caper and Wine Cream Sauce and a divine dish of Saffron Tortellini Stuffed with Ricotta, Spinach, and Apple with Limoncello Cream Sauce, leaving us in a glorious food coma for several hours. It turns out that Victor Bongo is a 3-time gold award-winning Celebrity Chef and one of the top 10 chefs in Canada, who has worked on cruise ships, at 5-star restaurants, and has even a series of wines names after him. I have two words for Cabarete’s newest sensation - Bongo from the Congo – yes and yes!!! We may have to extend our stay here just so we can experience more of his scrumptious offerings! Next on my list, his world-famous African peanut soup!More

We both shared a shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, and seafood casserole, plus key line pie. The seafood casserole was wonderful as well as the Caesar salad. Skip the key lime pie. Cocktails, we recommend the Pina Colada. Happy hour is two for one! It is...family friendly resort, and outsiders are welcome.More

This place was great for our stay at Villa Taina! Different amazing specials every day and night and many tables right on the beach so you can dig your feet in the sand while you eat. Visit on Wednesday night for the Mongolian buffet, it's...amazing! The staff is warm and friendly and the delicious options are endless. The drinks are fantastic as well with great happy hour deals. My favourite was the blended ice lemonade with mint leaves in it.More

We had 6 in our party for their Wednesday night "Mongolian Grill" event. It was very good. Plenty of selections to create your own meal and then have the grill cooks prepare it for you. Full meal with salad, grill and dessert for about 1000...pesos or $20 USD. It is all you care to eat and drinks will add to price.More
