Obviously more for local people than tourists at first sight, but food is really good and cheap. I tried the vegetarian curry, served with several small plates with different vegetables (the one with the tomato is a little spicy and very good).
The Ginger salad is good.
All curries at 2500 kyat (rice and soup included) all salad or juice at 1000 kyat.
They offer tamarind ginger candy at the end. I recommend and may return to have dinner before leaving Bagan.

Sat outside but sheltered from the road. The highlight of this meal was the amazing variety of side dishes that were brought out to us, colourful and tasty. My curry was very good and enhanced by all the side dishes. One of the best things about the meal was the price which was very cheap for the amount and the standard of the food that we had. The curry may be small but full of meat and with the amount of side dishes, we were not hungry. Definitely recommend.

I loved the food we tried here. we had a vegetarian curry it it was so beautifully presented. Each vegetable in a small little bowl for you to add. Each veggie had a very own and different taste and it was just fantastic. We loved the friendly service. Highly recommend eating here

Ma Mae Naing restaurant serves excellent Burmese food for a very affordable price! We really liked the fact that it somehow feels like home: not so many dishes on the menu, simple products and cuisine, nothing unnecessarily fancy, but super tasty, with many delicious side dishes, and also free desert. All this in a very relaxing atmosphere, thanks to the always smiling, adorable owner! A very good choice for small budgets, and in general for people looking for authentic moments in the heart of New Bagan!

...wasn’t the best. Our curries came in tiny bowls no bigger than the many accompanying pickles, most of which were super sour. Yes it’s very good value but so is nearly everywhere in Bagan.

I don’t understand - this place has good reviews. My husband was sceptical but l insisted because l had checked reviews on more than one site. I am not fussy but this was probably the worst food either of us had eaten. Lukewarm soup. Lukewarm fish curry. Lukewarm chicken curry. Beer didn’t fizz - my husband said that’s a sign of s dirty glass. The smiles and the staff were lovely. Lying here writing this with a gurgly tummy and my fingers crossed!

Just eat here. Friendly staff, excellent and authentic yet simple Myanmar food; Simplest of styles, nothing fancy, but you will be given more than you ordered or expected, AND the prices are EXCELLENTLY CHEAP. This place is the opposite of an overpriced tourist trap. Just eat here & find out for yourself. Location is just beside the Shwe Poe Eain Hotel on the main road in New Bagan. PS- Get the curry.

So simple and cheap, lovely restaurant owned by a very nice family. Very nice for sitting down and watching the life on the road. You get a lot of side dishes to try and local sweets at the end of your meal.

So good, so cheap, and so BIG. One meal is more than enough to split. Don't come alone or you will roll out with a half eaten meal. One of my favs in all of Burma.
