During my stay in Gondar, I was staying in the Inn of Four Sisters and realized that the owners were equally responsible for the mind blowing restaurant of the Four Sisters. Frankly speaking, even if the food sucked I would still give it 5 stars for the sheer creativity and hospitality offered! My mother and I came for dinner, where we were greeted by the guard who announced our arrival with a horn. Immediately I felt like royalty. After washing my hands before coming in, they had a performer playing the traditional kiraar who celebrated our arrival as well. As we sat, they gave us these beautiful ponchos to keep us warm as we sat outside. The care alone merits 5 stars, but I was equally blown away by the food. So tasty and so incredibly much!! We ordered the tsom (fasting) platter and some tibs on the side, it could easily fill a family of 4. When we joked about it, the waiter responded this was just a typical day in gondar hospitality. Thank you so much to the Four Sisters for the amazing experience both in restaurant and inn :)

Nice enough restaurant with an extensive, good-value lunchtime buffet featuring mainly Ethiopian (spicy!) dishes but with plenty of bland European-style options for wusses like me. Obviously a favourite of western tour groups, but plenty of middle-class local patrons, too. Pleasant, helpful staff speaking reasonable English. Since this was the only place I ate on the day I visited, the Fours Sisters was pretty certainly the source of the only stomach upset that I experienced during 3 weeks in Ethiopia, but my partner (generally much more 'sensitive' than me) was unaffected, so i'm thinking i was just unlucky...

We went to the Four Sisters twice during our stay in Gonder and really liked it. The mixed platter of Ethiopian dishes is really good (although size and quality differed between the two times we tried it) and they have a musician to entertain guests. Western dishes are not really their strong suit though. We tried a burger and it was ok at best. One thing we would like to highlight though is that the restaurant overcharged us the first time we went (by around 100birr). We only noticed later and hope that it was just a calculating error (they don't give you a bill, instead you pay at the entrance where the owner puts in the prices of the dishes in a calculator), but paid close attention to the bill the second time we went.

During our recent trip to Ethiopia we have visited the city of Gondar. As recommend by a travel blogger we went for dinner to the four sisters restaurant! The place looked nice although extremely touristic. We are very famuliar with Ethiopian kitchen which we like a lot, so instead of the European buffet we have decided to order Ethiopian dishes a la cart. From all local dishes standing in the menu there was just one available!!! Key Wott... so this we have ordered. To our great disappointment the dish was just bones covered with sauce. When we tried to say something to the waiter (which was one of the 4 sisters) she just disappeared. Following this altitude we just paid and left very dissapointed from the best (according to the blogger) restaurant of Gondar. We do not recommend this restaurant to travellers who want local food.

Do not want to be unfair, but in 12 minutes, which is how long we spent at this establishment during the off hours (some time before 4 pm, very, very few patrons), we did not get even approached by any of the many employees who were buzzing or sitting around. Yes, I was timing them, given that from the start everybody behaved as if we were invisible. So, we were looking forward to this meal which never happened. We got through the gate, the old man sounds his horn and a lady greets us and directs us to the back yard, which seems quite pleasant. There is a small group of tourists at the terrace, finishing their meal, and literally two other tables with people, finishing their meals. Otherwise empty of patrons, but most tables joined and big Reserved signs put on them - so, they are expecting large groups. Plenty of employees around, but nobody greets us, nobody approaches our table. One employee passes by us several times, gives us the eye each time but otherwise ignores us. So, we try to speak to another one and ask her if we can get service - she asks "menu", we say yes, she nods and leaves, never returning. We wait for 5 more minutes and leave. We will not be returning. This seems like an establishment that mostly caters to tourists, and in groups, with buffet food. Thankfully our lunch was not ruined, as we had quite good grilled fish at Masterchef, 3 minutes down the road from Four Sisters.

We travel independently, and walked into Four Sisters for dinner during a blackout. They lit the restaurant with candlelight, and the food was still amazing- well seasoned and spicy. We came back the next day for lunch to try the buffet. Highly recommended.

I took my guide and driver to this wonderful restaurant as a token of thanks for their hard work. They loved it and so did I! The guys ate shiro wat among other traditional dishes and were very satisfied! I eat kosher so I ordered a salad..... it was the best salad I've had yet in Ethiopia! The staff was very helpful and service was great. You should go there when in Gonder!

Perfect. Typical. Fresh. Friendly. Confortable. Easy for long tables and groups. To be recommanded. Home made fresh local food. (Beware the raw vegetables and fruits when european or continental travellers).

This restaurant caters to tourists, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We were recommended to go for the lunch buffet. The food was very good--some of the best we had in Ethiopia. The buffet was a very good option as we could try many dishes. Also my husband is vegan and he had many options as well. The facilities were clean. The service was attentive. A little pricey for the area, 500Birr per person.

We spent two evenings here and were extremly happy with the food and service. They take care of details, are extremly attentive, friendly and offer good food - local and international fare. They even roast coffee for you, wash your hands before dinner etc. They are excellent ambassadors of Gondor and Ethiopia in general. Warmly recommend the visit.

We had our delicious meal at this restaurant after we made our trip in the Simien mountains. Even though we had a great cook for our Simien trip and we still got this restaurant traditional and amazingly yummy food. We have been escorted with Eyosi Worede who was our Guide and Simien tour organizer and he took us as we asked him a good restaurant. If you have one night in Gonder do not miss to go there and try Tej as well.

Great marketing, rubbish execution. Tons of tables but if a large group stops by that day, prepare to see you r reservation go out the window. If that happens, you are lucky though: the food is not great and has unintended consequences.

I visited the place twice for dinner. They had a nice buffet for 300ETB with truly yammy food. The second time I visited, they tried to charge me 400 ETB for the buffet, but I belive it was a waiter mistake. The place is really charming and highly reccommended.
