Mariner's Cafe and Bar was the perfect end to our stay on Ha'apai Islands. Fantastic and friendly service, awesome food (the raw fish ceviche was spot on) and fantastic iced coffees (I tried one with and without coconut vodka - both were as delicious as each other). This is definitely the 'hub' of Pangai and somewhere you have to visit... More

Its pretty tough to get good food in pangai. Maybe the market will have some carrots, maybe some bananas, maybe neither. The shops all stock the same thing. Tins of this and that. So its a welcome relief to stop by Mariner's every now and then for some incredible home made pasta, a pizza or just a cold beer. Prices... More

Ha'apai must rate as one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. But it is also one of the most remote. There is no ATM (although you can draw cash from your card after queuing in the Government owned bank), the 'supermarkets' only stock the most basic commodities. Mariner's is conveniently located (middle of Pangai, the 'CBD" island) but... More

Yummy fish soup with noodle! Consider its 10 pa'anga it's a light meal. But it's totally worth it. Love the soup! I believed it's kind of soup you cooked with your heart and effort. I wish to try the other dishes next time (great aroma when other dishes are served to other customers). They even had plunger coffee, here.

I spent many evenings here during my stay in Haapai. The food is great with local traditional food mixed with some classic dishes. We got invited to a BBQ night here which was awesome, we all sat down together drinking local beer and ate the yummiest food! Big thanks to the friendliest staff, I will be back for sure :)

We were here for about a week and we had most of our meals at Mariners and we were never disappointed, actually quite impressed with the quality but not the appearance! Internet was a plus!

A year ago this sland was ravished by a cyclone and unfortunately it looks like it happened more like a month or maybe two ago. As a visitor there are only two places to eat in town; a locally run chicken and rice place (delicious) and Mariner's cafe with its intersting menu. We ate two meals here and both were... More

We were staying about 20km away and cycled down to Pangai from Foa Is. We almost missed this place as it is on a side road with a sign behind growing foliage! We were in Pangai during the rebuild post cyclone Ian so it looked like this cafe had a bit of a monopoly. The menu is surprisingly extensive, even... More

Ha'apai is thankfully of the tourist trail and has limited services, part of its charm I believe. Magda runs Mariner's cafe, which is full of excellent cuisine, friendly people and lashings of island charm. The menu offers a great variety of food, from great breakfast dishes, to light lunches and mouth watering dinner choices. All can be washed down with... More
