The food was good enough, and the outdoor patio very nice, but the sub-standard service wrecked it all. I would not return. There are better restaurants with staff who have some warmth and personality. It took an hour to get lunch.

That's saying something, since we ate very well throughout the province, and also had wonderful meals at our inn in Baie-St-Paul, L'estampilles. We don't have much to add to what's been said below - everything was fabulous from the first "amuse-bouche" treat to the last bite of dessert. For our 10 year old daughter, like many places in Quebec, they... More

We spent a week in Baie-St-Paul and had our best meal out at Le Mouton Noir. We had lunch on the outside deck with views over the river. The place is family friendly, the service is excellent, and we all (including two small children) enjoyed our food.

We turned up at 7.30pm and got the last table for 2 outside on the patio. They take reservations inside but not outside. It was right next to the fire which was beautiful. The food was great. Service was lovely. Value for money for the Table d'hote was great given the quality of the food which was fantastic. Friendly for... More

This being our fifth or sixth visit to BSP, we had been to Mouton Noir before. Thus, we saved our visit for the last night of the trip. To our horror, they were fully booked! However, after some discussion, we learned that the outside deck remains a first come, first seated area. So, praying the weather would hold out, we... More

Our second meal in Canada was definitely the best we had during our entire ten day vacation. If you can eat only once anywhere in Canada, come here. We had lunch on the shaded deck in back overlooking a small river in early July. Once again, I learned to trust the advice of the server. My wife ordered a salad... More

When planning my trip to Charlevoix, I kept coming across rave reviews of this Mouton Noir restaurant. When we arrived at our B&B, I asked the owner if she could recommend a nice resto for dinner and she pulled out a menu for Mouton Noir! Even though a little pricey, we decided to give it a go out of curiousity.... More

We have been wanting to eat at this restaurant for some time now after seeing reviews of it several times in various newspapers. Finally, we were passing through at lunch time and stopped to enjoy a meal on the terrace overlooking the river. The menu is small, which I like, since they seem to work with local fare such as... Le Mouton Noir was by far the best eating experience we had in a six day trip to Quebec and Pointe au Pic. Located 1 1/4 hours from Quebec City and a half hour from Pointe au Pic, this restaurant is country French at its best. Try the lamb, the pastry filled with pork and vegetables or the scallops. Each... More

Just returned from my annual vacation to the Charlevoix region which included a stop at the Mouton Noir. We have dined here before and enjoyed wonderful food each time. The quality of the service this time, however, upset me so much that it has led me to submit my first ever review. We visited on a busy Saturday evening. I... More
