We came here on a Sunday afternoon having driven up from Devon. We'd already know tried another pub in Lacock (which will remain nameless) where they neither took cards for payment, nor served food after 4 on a Sunday. The Red Lion, as a result, was a lovely surprise. Great food, great service and pretty swift too for a Sunday.... More

We called in on a late Monday lunchtime having wanted to go to 'The Sign of the Angel', which was closed. Being relatively local we wanted a full lunch and the King John Hunting Lodge didn't have a full enough choice. We found a table in The Red Lion and ordered a Prawn and Salmon Salad, Beef and Ale Pie... More

The food was good but not outstanding: the roast beef was a tad dry and the macaroni and cheese were awfully bland. However, the fish and chips, daily soup and all the sides were excellent. The portions were generous and so was the large jug of water given for free. A nice stop in this lovely town .

We popped in here for a late lunch. It was a lovely day so sat in the garden which was quite busy. There didn't seem to be much of a choice where sandwiches were concerned so we all ordered bacon, brie and cranberry caibattias. They came out cold which was a surprise but we're very nice. It's a lovely old... More

Left with empty pockets and empty stomachs! Very expensive for bog standard pub grub, no options for vegans apart from chips (£3.50 for a cup of chips) or side of vegetables (£3). To add insult to injury the vegetables are pre prepared and they accidentally put butter on so my daughter couldn't have those either!! £6.95 for a sandwich that... More

A great pub in Lacock but very busy so be prepared to wait to be served. Pleasant outdoor area for drinks and less claustrophobic than the busty interior. Old world charm to match the village We didn't eat but the food looked good and plentiful.

We literally stumbled into the Red Lion at the end of a walk from Pewsham and admittedly we were pretty hungry. However, the steak and ale pie was quite simply delicious. I asked the bar staff who made them and was told the same lady had been making these pies for 30 years. The pastry was short and crisp and... More

Saturday and a lot of people so we knew the waiting would be almost half an hour. When I ordered the drinks I repeated my order to make sure the person got it right and still I got more than asked for. Food can be worth waiting for but here it wasn't. The servings looked great but the flavours and... More

English pubs have their own etiquette. You grab a menu and a table, decide what the whole table wants, then order and pay at the bar. The nice thing about this pub is that they guide you through this and have it all written above the bar. The food was good and surprisingly (for a tourist town/high season) reasonably priced....
