Saturday and a lot of people so we knew the waiting would be almost half an hour. When I ordered the drinks I repeated my order to make sure the person got it right and still I got more than asked for. Food can be worth waiting for but here it wasn't. The servings looked great but the flavours and... More

English pubs have their own etiquette. You grab a menu and a table, decide what the whole table wants, then order and pay at the bar. The nice thing about this pub is that they guide you through this and have it all written above the bar. The food was good and surprisingly (for a tourist town/high season) reasonably priced.... We visited Lacock for the day & decided to have a spot of lunch in this pub. The location is brilliant & the garden was really pretty & perfect for the hot weather. We managed to find a table without any problems. Ordered two ciabattas for around £5.95 each with the option of adding chips for £1.50 - thought not... More

We went to Lacock Abbey and for a walk around the town. Before leaving, we stopped of for lunch at the Red Lion. I was given a number of samples to help me choose which ale I wanted to have with my fish and chips. There is a great outdoor eating area of the inside is too crowded.

Being the closet pub to the abbey it gets really busy with mainly tourists. However there's plenty of seating both inside and out (weather permitting) - fortunately it was mid week and so there were spare tables. Being a Wadworth pub it has the usual 6X and a selection of other ale offerings from the brewery (Swordfish/IPA/golden beer). Food orders... More

Been to the Red Lion twice in the last month and mixed feelings of the place. It has it too easy being a stone's throw from Lacock Abbey and patrons / tourists frankly 'mugged' on their prices and the casual attitude of some current (not all) staff. On both occasions two different bar staff treated me as an inconvenience placing... More

We visited the Red Lion in Lacock recently and cannot recommend it enough, the room was immaculate, clean, bright, cheerful decor, with iron, hairdryer, even a docking station. With plenty of tea and coffee, available. The staff are professional, helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Dinner was fabulous, great menu, with locally sauced produce and all made on... Despite a cheerful waitress who managed to seat us, the experience lacked any credible value for most of the food. It was well overpriced by far and represented very poor value for the cost, such as £11.95 for the roast, £6.50 for a one piece of toast pate! The fish platter was reasonable at £10.95 but 6 chips in a... More

Saturday lunch at this pretty looking pub. It was busy and staff did warn of a wait for food. We ordered at 1.20 food arrived about 2.45. What turned up was basic microwaved run of mill pub slop. Staff friendly but not enough they were rushed off their feet try to clear tables etc, I felt for them. Village is... More

My family toured through Lacock and selected The Red Lion Pub for lunch. It is a nice setting, with character, but the fish & chips, which we all ordered, was not very good. The other food they serve may be fine, but we would recommend choosing another place for lunch when in this lovely little town.
