My husband and I have visited The Ship many times when staying at The Anchor, (in the good old days when Douglas and Pandy ran it!). Holidaying on Exmoor last week we decided to re visit not only The Anchor but to also pop into The Ship. The place has changed only slightly inside but the welcome was a big... More

The Bottom Ship - The bar was busy and provided good drinks choice and reasonably quick service. Longboats ordered were quite small and poor quality and don't what you'd expect for a filled jacket potato with salad and crisps. The gents toilet was a let down - small and smelly.

Good pub on Porlock Weir looks like it would make a good film set for an episode of Poldark!. We called in for a coffee and a tea cake which cost a reasonable £3.30 after a walk from Porlock to the weir via Porlock Marsh

This is a pub we have known for 40 plus years. We ate here for lunch twice recently during a hot spell and despite being vey busy I could not fault the service or the friendliness of the staff. The big problem was value or money. The first time scampi and chips was ok, but £10 plus for a smallish... More

Nice pub food, in comfortable surroundings. We stopped for an evening meal while we were in the area. The pub is in a beautiful location, just across the road from the beach. The food was nicely cooked and presented. Staff were.pleasant and friendly.

We were a little early but service is from noon until 2.45. They could not have been more welcoming. My wife and I both had the pork, served with a variety of vegetables including roast parsnips and very good roast potatoes. There was also a yorkshire and very good gravy. The only thing missing was crackling but we could have... More

We stopped off here for lunch. The hotel next door, which we have used before, was shut so we came here. Really pleased we did as the lunch was excellent and of a reasonable price. We will stop again here when we next visit Devon. Good service.

Great historic pub. Spent quite a few afternoons sat outside. The Wierfest was superb, and the pub served decent BBQ grub and a fantastic selection of Real Ales and ciders during the music. Food from normal menu is just good plain English pub grub served well and at a good price. Good selection of beers on tap, and nice interior.... More

We had a lunch and dinner here. The fish and chips were amazing, really fresh. The location was pretty fab too, nice traditional pub and great food.

The Top Ship was recommended by a friend but on hindsight we preferred the Bottom Ship where we stayed with our 2 pets for 5 nights in June & yes we had lovely weather no rain. We were so surprised that it was only £85 for 2 nights stay 2 people, 2 dogs B&B thrown in. Our pets stayed in... More
