We ate here because it was a convenient walking distance from where we were staying. The food was fine but we were slightly off put by a diner on an adjacent table warning us off the fish pie and the fact that the 'cream' which came with one of the desserts appeared to be Dream Topping!

A fantastic pub in a beautiful bit of rural countryside with a church just behind. A fantastic service and delicious food and very friendly staff and service very good. One of the oldest pubs in Shropshire dated back to 1651 and it is one of the best with a peaceful pub garden outside and lovely inside. PLEASE NOTE : I... More

After a visit to Carding Mill Valley four of us plus my liitle WestieX went for a Saturday night meal, I had previously booked a table and would recommend you do, although some people were turning up and having to wait an hour. Helpful staff and excellent food, quality and value. Would visit again.

Have visited twice now, no doubt will do so again and again. Great atmosphere in an old country pub, table both outside and inside, very quiet roadside location. Surrounded by great walking in the Shropshire Hills. Good beers, generous and tasty baguettes catering for all tastes, choice of brown or white bread.

Always a cracking meal whatever time of day you go. Happy to meet your every whim. Trout is the best I've tasted. Happy to have dogs in the bar but not the restaurant. Always a warm welcome guaranteed.

Really enjoyed my visit. Food was great, pub is old, full of history and very quirky like a village country pub should be and the Pinot Grigio is lovely! Landlord told me the story behind the speciality dish "fidget pie" and how it's been passed on from landlord to landlord for years. Well worth the trip, totally dog friendly (owners... More

Starters excellent. All mains well cooked generous portions. Except the Tagine which tasted as if curry powder had been added to courgettes ( very disappointing as all the other mains were superb) couldn't taste any tomato or raisins. Wrong spice used & not cooked off properly. Desserts fabulous

Booked in advance for 13 for lunch last Sunday, a week or so in advance -most advisable! Arrived at 12.30 to a very nice welcome from the lady serving at the bar. The beer was excellent, the food superb with generous portions, nicely prepared and presented. The staff who looked after us were very cheerful. polite and efficient, despite being... More

Really friendly serving staff and generous portions. After an afternoon of walking we arrived a bit early for their evening sitting. We had booked as we were a party of 10. The waiting staff were patient while we navigated the menu with a complex set of requirements to suit the younger members of the party. The menu and specials were... More
