An iconic coffee shop with a great vibe, tasty brews and massive scones. Impossible not to feel relaxed when inside. Funky bookshop next door a bonus.

Stepped in for a nice coffee and a snack on our journey south however the tables were not very clean and there were lots of dirty dishes from previous customers. We purchased only a coffee as the food didn't look too inviting. My wife visited the toilets and on her return agreed that this was not a place worthy of... More

We found this brilliant place on a rainy afternoon in Gairloch. Spent a good couple of hours drinking coffee, eating cake and trying to decide how many books to buy. I would love a place like this in Edinburgh

A warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere with helpful staff. The homebakes are amazing as is the coffee.... the fruit and cinnamon scones are a must try. This is a dog friendly coffee shop where staff will make sure your pooch has a water bowl ....

We arrived here later on in the afternoon and received a very lukewarm welcome, which is to say no particular welcome at all. Our few cakes, drinks and coffees were expensive and the cakes very dry and unappealing, The surroundings felt a run down and unimaginative. However by far the worst part of the visit was the rudeness of the... More

Popped into this coffee shop twice whilst staying at the campsite just up the road. Coffee was really good, as was the huge plum and cinnamon scone. We sat in the conservatory area which has great views across the loch, and there is an area to sit outside which would have been lovely if the weather had been better. Interesting... More

Horrible dry chocolate cake that tasted about a week old. Strange books and posters about weed. Just not appropriate in a cafe for the public. Old furniture and unclear of what food they actually do as there seemed to be no menu. Very off putting atmosphere and too warm. Felt sick most of my journey home from the dried out... More

Description
This cafe is recommended by Lonely Planet and could be fantastic. The view is good, The food looked good and some tasted good. I ma prompted ot review becase the service was very bad. The women in charge who I believe is the owner was one fo the grumpier people we met on a 5month tour of Europe. She was loudly critical of and to the young man working there, she was unwelcoming and ignored much of what we said to her. The coffee was ok but made with reluctance and an offhand attitude. We felt as if we were intruding in her space and a real nuisance -- at 11 am !!. We had driven out of the way to get to a place which we felt would be special place for a coffee. It was but in all the wrong ways. We are New Zealanders who do not normally complain but this place was worth complaining about.
