We had previously enjoyed evening meals at The Sun Inn on a couple of occasions, each time when it had been particularly busy. This time we only required an early lunchtime snack before wandering off to visit the nearby coast. Much quieter at lunchtime, we opted for simple cheddar and pickle sandwiches, not expecting anything special. When they arrived (admittedly... More

This is the more authentic pub in town. Came here for just a whisky, yet we enjoyed the atmosphere. The rooms are cosy and the people friendly.

This seemed to be the only place in Alnmouth that had a vegetarian Sunday lunch option; other places just seemed to offer pasta. It was wonderful and really tasty. We had a lovely lunch, plus our dog could come in. All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Really recommended.

Our first visit to th Sun was really enjoyable. We had hot sandwiches with seriously good proper chips. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was value for money. Will definitely return.

Last reviewed a couple of years ago. Booked a table we wanted in the corner (cosy). We got there 10 minutes early, our booked table was occupied. I told the staff, who went to talk to the couple and apparently the tabled was booked from 7pm, it was 10 to 6. We booked THAT table for 6pm. We had to... More

Staying in the pub we decided to eat there as it was steak night. Whilst my steak was ok but a bit overdone on how I'd asked for, one of our party's fillet steak was well overdone and dry in the middle. When he complained nothing was done and as we'd been cycling all day was very hungry so he... More

I really wanted to score this place more. The majority of the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Let down by one member of staff (whilst enthusiastic, she didn't have a clue) and poor food. Starter was fine, but moules marienere was served with sweet red onion and no garlic to cut through it... It was very poor. And the... More

We ate here for two nights during our stay in Alnmouth. It is best to book a table, particularly at weekends as it does get very busy. The food here is very good and reasonably priced with decent sized portions. The steak and chips were good but best of all was the duck confit which was excellent. You get three... More
