We first went to the red lion on Saturday night, good local crowd in as well as hotel residents. Nobody minded the dogs.... or us. Went back Monday morning for breakfast... v good as was coffee. We couldn't go again after that since they closed for their winter break! Oh , by the way, the beer's excellent!

We had previously visited this pub a couple of years ago whilst staying nearby. We remembered it being lovely and cosy so had no hesitation in going back. It is a traditional pub with an open fire and a cosy welcoming feel. There appeared to be plenty of locals meeting up which is always a good sign. We are having... More

We were staying in Alnmouth for the New Year and booked a meal the night before we left. We had tried to to have a meal a few nights before but as it was New Year it was fully booked. This is a lovely traditional pub with a homely feel and a nice welcome. We all had a main meal,... More

Looked for a child and dog friendly pub in Almouth and this came up. I read the reviews and they were all positive. It didn't let us down. Because we had the dog we had to have lunch in the bar which was 'cosy'. We didn't mind. It was New Years Day and everyone we met in there greeted us... More

We visited Alnmouth on a cold windy day and after walking a few miles along the beach we headed to the Red Lion for lunch. Very friendly pub and dog friendly. We both ordered the hot beef baguettes which were huge. The onion rings came in a bowl big enough for us all to share and we had some left... More

Had late lunch today at the lion, this is the best place to eat in Alnmouth the steak pie and chips with mushy peas, no good for your wasteline but great for the taste buds. The staff were friendly and a good selection of beer, this is a great place to visit after a walk along the beach.

We dropped in for a beer - excellent - and this would be the place I would choose to stay in Alnmouth. A brief and enjoyable visit

Had yet another great meal in alnmouth. We had been here previously for a few drinks and decided to have a change of plan from the local Italian to Sunday lunch ( more like dinner as I had rang ahead and they serve Sunday lunch till 8pm) we ate at 7pm and the food was as they described fresh, warm... It is a nice pub near the golf course. The food is really great (photos included). It was fully packed at lunchtime even though we visited in a cold winter day. Seems to be popular with the locals. I would go back.
