Disclaimer: I have no connection with the owners or staff of this venue in any way. My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion recently for a long weekend on the Northumberland coast. It was fantastic in every respect. The staff are young people and everyone of them was pleasant, polite, helpful and gave outstanding service throughout our stay.... More

Good friendly service and good food. Need to book as very popular. Real ales too which I enjoyed. Pie night worth a visit as they are very good.

Very popular, friendly pub and restaurant. They don't take bookings for non residents so you need to go early to ensure getting a table. We found the service good even though it was busy. Food was excellent with lots of local produce. Prices fair for the quality of the food and Alnmouth is quite a pricey place to eat which... More

This is a great pub which serves good food in a relaxed atmosphere. It has a large beer garden, a bar and restaurant. The food is of a high standard and if you eat meat there's a lot of choice. The Sunday lunch is excellent and my husband sang the praises of the Northumberland sausage on our return visit. If... More

Staff friendly. The village is beautiful. Fabulous beer garden. Room nice but not much space to put things. The food and drink prices were excessive but in proportion with other pubs in the village. We weren't very impressed with the standard of the food taking the prices into account. But overall we really enjoyed it and will go again

Having taken a self catering cottage in Alnmouth we decided to have an evening out, and this pub was recommended. The menu looked promising, but the service was slow. After half an hour we had a starter and then we were forgotten, so when we reminded the bar staff that we were still waiting for a main course ours arrived,... More

We arrived early Thursday evening for dinner, only to find the restaurant was fully booked! We managed to find a table to squeeze into, in the crowded bar and had a very pleasant meal. The staff were helpful, the food was nicely presented and very tasty. They were also happy to double up a starter as a main. if you... More

The food was excellent - between us we had soup, sandwiches, chips, and onion rings - and the garden would have been perfect if it hadn't rained. Moving inside, it was my sort of pub. Just chatter, eating and drinking.
