Friendly pub with good food. We were able to have a table to play cards before our meal. The service was friendly with no pressure to move after our meal was finished. The menu choice was good , I had the pork burger with cheese and bacon, garlic mayonnaise and fries, very tasty. The one downside was that the entrance... More

We were very hungry on the evening that we ate at The Red Lionel and were not disappointed! Meals were generous, well cooked, good atmosphere and served by a very helpful and pleasant young Romanian waiter who was very kind. Price especially are very fair too. I especially liked the Mark Edwards paintings in the dining room- they inspired me... More

I am not a real regular just for last week on holiday staying in Alnmouth. The staff are exceptionally efficient and with a small bar they have to be. There are guest ales each night all from local breweries, a real treat for a weekly visit. Sampled as many as I could with tasters given when asked. The diners each... More

We were able to sit outside in the garden admiring the view. The food was excellent and was great value.

For a nice not expensive meal I would recommend The Red Lion Inn. There is a separate restaurant to the bar which is nice and quite. The food was very good. Well worth a visit.

So good it was the only pub we used on our week's holiday. We visited every day, enjoying a lovely meal the first night and a cracking pint that and on all the other evenings. It has such a welcoming atmosphere with a really diverse mix of clientele. All in all pubs don't get much better.

We popped into The Red Lion earlier today to see if they had room at the inn. They hadn't and recommended that we try The Hope and Anchor- see following favourable review for them too - and found a room for the night. Wanting to return the favour, we chose The Red Lion for our "end of holiday" meal and... More

Our second port of call on our Northumbrian trip. What a delightful place. On check in we were met by a very helpful person and shown to our fabulous room. Room 6 an extremely well cared for room, very modern and wonderful large bed, couldn't decide if it was a Queen size or large king size. Either way it was... More

Six of us have just had a most enjoyable four night stay at this Inn. The rooms were lovely and the food excellent but the stand out feature was the warmth of the people that we dealt with. Jane, as the owner, sets the standard but Ceri was just lovely in everything that she did. Nothing was too much trouble... More

Had the liver and mash, was faultless and plenty of it. Would highly recommend if in the area. Surroundings very pleasant and service fast and efficient. What more do you need in a pub, oh don't forget the beer. Good local real ales on tap.
