Good food, good beer and friendly

Taken over a few months ago by new owners, this is a pub with very friendly staff and locals. Good reasonable priced meals and 3-4 real ales on. Doom Bar and Butty Bach being regulars. Landlords son is also trying home brew with possibility of having a small brewpub in future. Lovely views deep in... read more

Have visited The Yew Tree several times for a quiet Sat evening drink with friends, The Landlord is usually friendly and welcoming. However on our last visit we were asked to leave at 10.30 because the Landlord and his wife were tired. We were upset at this as it was too late to go anywhere else and we didn't really... More

Friendly enough people and very welcoming to dogs, however the food was average very few veggies with the Sunday lunch and nothing green. The whole place was in need of a makeover.

Recently changed hands, many I don't think the new owners have quite found their feet yet. Warm welcome and helpful staff. Given a pint, rather than a half, of soft drink which together with a pint of average beer came to over £7 which I felt was a bit steep. Food was average pub grub and overpriced for what it was.... Fabulous Xmas lunch, great set menu and brilliant staff. Reservation made in October and Pete sent menu by email for us to make our choices early December. 5 courses for £55 - good variety of courses. We chose the homemade soups to start, ravioli and duck pancakes, followed by Lamb cutlets (melt in your mouth variety), plum pudding and citron... More

Good value Sunday lunch with meat from local suppliers. The beef and pork were beautifully cooked and a good selection of vegetable and nice crispy roast potatoes. Great desserts. The service is quick and friendly. We will definitely be coming again!

Although it would have been a quiet night without our table of 8 we could not find fault with anything. Hosts, food and beer excellent. Calamari starter was cooked to perfection then the sea bass was very tasty, with all the various flavours coming through. The ginger pudding and custard finished off a very good meal. Thank you for a... More
