The building is a balance of "shed meets contemporary glass, steel and decking" poised on an elevated aspect overlooking the Cobb. Relaxed, informal and a light touch on both service and the food. My wife and I are fish and shellfish addicts so, for us, this was fishy utopia. We had for starters, Steamed Lyme Bay Prawns and Lyme Bay... More

Excellent oysters and sole followed by very good cheese and chocolate mousse. Contrary to a few recent reviews I found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. Overall very good the only small issue was that the restaurant was empty by 10.30 so atmosphere was a little subdued.

We had an early sitting and assumed they would have a later one. That was fine. The setting was lovely, beautiful lighting and nice tables. Service was OK, a little forced and a bit too fast - we had 2 courses within an hour. The food was disappointing and a bit pricey. I ordered from their small vegetarian menu (but... More

Second visit here and just as good as before. Good vibe in a bustling restaurant with very knowledgeable waiting staff. My fish pie main course was just what the doctor ordered and couldn't have been any better. Lovely selection of desserts; chocolate mousse an absolute must. See you soon...

Great food for all the family. We had Hakes head, fish pie, bacon with clams, and fish of the day. All lovely . And the mussels were really soft and fresh. A1.

During dinner we were constantly interrupted with the door being opened adjacent to us and being left ajar with sub degree temperatures outside this became very cold, several customers were also mattering under their breath about how the waiter was unable to close the door, we suggested that the door should be shut, to which no response was given, we... Wow! Perched on a hillside overlooking Lyme Regis harbor, you can't ask for a more beautiful and classic coastal Dorset setting. Service provided by Nic and Peter was friendly and impeccable. Fish pie entrees were generously sized and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of our Lyme Regis visit ... truly memorable dining experience!

Had lunch with a friend on a Friday. We booked in advance and arrived a little early, however we were shown immediately to our table near the window with a fabulous view across the harbour. We were served by a very friendly and charming waiter. We could not fault anything about this restaurant, the ambience was extremely pleasant and the... More

There's nothing fancy about Hix's Oyster & Fish House. It's in a naturally beautiful location and the view from the dining room is stunning. The food was simply wonderful. Like the dining room there's nothing fancy or clever about the cooking. They just source the best ingredients they can get and treat them with respect. The end result was a... More

Description
Hix Oyster & Fish House overlooks the harbour in Lyme Regis and boasts the most stunning panoramic views across the Jurassic coast - this is easily one of the most picturesque spots to enjoy fresh British fish seafood.

The Fish House is an informal, light and airy dining room with simple white wooden tables and chairs. Here the focus is on sourcing and serving the best produce we can find and doing as little to it as possible so that you enjoy the real flavour of great British ingredients.

HIX Oyster and Fish House supports sustainable fishing.
