This little tea garden is just perfect. The owner is polite, helpful and a cheery chap. The menu is simple but just what you need for a stopping point on your walk. Gluten free is available which was a bonus and prices were reasonable too. If you are walking the coast path pop in.

After an hours stroll along the coastal path from Padsow we stumbled across a beautiful little tea garden 'Rest a While'. With fantastic views of the coastline, the cosy garden and wonderfully warm reception helped to make this a great place to stop for refreshments. The very warm welcome was also extended to our cockerpoo Molly. I would strongly recommend... More

Thanks for the lovely review. Many people find us by accident, whilst walking the coast path. So glad that you enjoyed the 'Rest A While' experience. Glad also that Molly enjoyed our 'dog friendly' service. Our homemade smoothies are proving to be very popular. 'Berry Go Round' is only one of the six that we offer and if you tasted... More

We have passes the signs for "rest a while" tea rooms many times but have never stopped before - we were very glad that we did today. We were doing the circular walk from Padstow to Trevone and back via Stepper point. Very nice place to stop and "rest a while" nice garden, with great views over the Camel estuary.... More

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat while walking along the coastal path. Lovely sandwiches and the view across the bay is wonderful. They even supplied a little plate of dog biscuits for Belle! Very friendly.

After a blustery walk it was amazing to have a hot cuppa and delicious cakes! Loved the welcome for our dog too!! Such a beautiful setting with friendly service and gorgeous food - a much needed cuppa for the weary hiker 😄

We were staying in the old life boat house and decided to go to the rest a while tearoom. Very suprising as a first impression. It was all outside. The cake was amazing. Would highly recommend the lemon drizzle cake. Will definitely be returning when we are down in Cornwall next time.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your very kind comments. I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit to our tiny tea garden. As it is 'all outside' we are very weather dependent and we are North facing and quite shaded, so during October we only open from 11.00am to 3.00pm. Thank you for the recommendation.... More

Description
The (tiny) tea garden is at the back of the two hundred year old 'Coastguard Houses' at Hawkers Cove, on the Coastal Path, 150m from the slipway at Hawkers Cove beach and enjoys fantastic views across the Doom Bar and mouth of the Camel Estuary, to Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We serve hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, quiches and pies, homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes, made to order sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams and various snacks.(Our cream teas and our crab sandwiches are getting rave reviews). For anyone who is Coeliac, we have also added a Gluten Free Flapjack to our homemade products, which include Gluten Free Scones (of course), Gluten Free Lemon Drizzle Cake and Gluten Free Ginger Cake. We are stocking Gluten Free Bread, for sandwiches and Gluten Free Bread Rolls to compliment our Gluten Free homemade soups. We are 'Dog Friendly', welcoming well behaved pooches with a fresh bowl of water and biscuits. The tea garden is, literally, a garden, with no inside seating and is consequently very 'weather dependent' so if the weather is at all 'unsettled', we would advise that you phone ahead to make sure that we are open. The tea garden will be open 7 days a week (weather permitting) from Easter to October. Unfortunately we don't have any parking facilities, so if you wish to drive to us, we suggest that you park in the farmer's car park and walk along the coast path, or park anywhere on the road to Hawkers Cove and walk down the hill, (approx 500m). The tea garden is situated behind the top row of houses. We accept most Credit/Debit Cards. Please come and see us.... You will be made most welcome! Please note that during October we are open from 11.00am to 3.00pm
