Refurbished and revamped

I'm not a pub person but I particularly like the Kings Arms: had my 60th birthday here. The whole hotel benefits from an extensive and sympathetic refurbishment. The food is good, mid range prices, nicely presented and served by courteous staff. There's a very nice sized ballroom to the rear of... read more

Hi Lynette, thank you so much for your kind words. We have tried to get it the best we can, even though it is good at the moment we still have a long way to how we want it to be. Our staff always try their hardest to make every customer feel welcome. Glad you enjoyed your Birthday and we... More

We have eaten here when visiting our daughter who lives in Kirkby Stephen. We recently moved here ourselves and age here often until our kitchen was sorted. No complaints whatsoever! All our meals/snacks have been good, staff friendly & helpful. We think the food is cooked go order as there is a bit of a wait but we would rather... More

Quiet town centre pub, friendly atmosphere and good beer. Does have accommodation and serves meals, however we did not try these and just popped in for a drink

Lunchtime on a October Friday was an unexpected warm sunny day and we sat outside on one of the many tables. Service was friendly although the waitress was unable to remember more than one thing at a time ! Sausage sandwiches with onion marmalade with chips and salad were a great choice although there was almost a 30 minute wait.... More

Service with a smile and dog friendly. Food was typical pub grub, nothing fancy but perfectly edible and welcoming after walking the countryside. Lasagne was a cut portion rather than individual preparation, chips were too chunky (& not soft on the inside) for me so my husband & the dogs ended up with most of them much to their delight.... We were staying local to the pub and decided to go for tea. We were travelling with our dog so asked if we were OK to sit inside which we were told was fine. Ordered our food and wasn't too long before it was brought to our table then the waitress asked if our dog was allowed a treat and... More

We dined as a party of 5 plus a baby. The young waitress was very friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in.It wasnt a problem getting a seat. The food was of very good quality. Homemade and piping hot. The prices were very reasonable too. We were made to feel very welcome. If we visit Kirkby Stephen again... More

Reasonably priced basic meal suitable for walkers at the end of a long day's trekking. Interesting building.
