after going there for the past 3 years I was very dissapointed. The food was not up to standar and look warm. The sitting was very dissapointed, we were put in a corner and the chair were a misfit. Complained but no comment from the staff. Think that the staff should be aware of situation and trained accordinly.

I ate at the Bear twice this month. First time total disaster: had terribly greasy nachos for starter and 'sizzling chicken fajitas' which turned out to be cold. Second time a bit better: good mixed grill but fridge cold bakewell tart which was supposed to be served warm. The quality of the food is simply unreliable: sometimes good, sometimes terrible;... Arriving at 7:30 for a business dinner for 4 we had been advised to reserve a table for because of a busy evening ahead, it was a surprise to find not a single other table occupied - and this remained the position all evening. Manageress said we needed to be nippy to order as kitchen was closing (and indeed she... More

We've had three trips to hungerford and taken our dog to this dog friendly hotel. On two occasions we had a lovely room in the annexe in the courtyard which had the most comfiest queen sized bed we've ever slept in and a lovely bath and shower room. The third time we were in the new block and the rooms... More

We dropped in to try the beers not expecting much. One off and Abbott but the third was Titanic Stoute. This we voted our beer of the evening! Chocolate and vanilla flavour.

Saturday evening in the queue for drinks and the staff were chatting rather than serving the long queue of guests. Food was plentiful but not terribly appetising. The steak was tough and chewy, the vegetables frozen and chips cold. I may have chosen the wrong dish and my husbands meal did seem better. Reasonable costs for reasonable food.

Hi, I came here with my boyfriend (both local to Hungerford) as we wanted a quick bit of pub grub that wasn't going to be too expensive. We both left saying we would never eat there again. The garlic mushrooms to start were like something you could get from the freezer at tesco's. The chips were so oily I only... More

I hesitated before posting this because I felt it only right that I should my complaint directly with them. Had they replied I would not have posted this - but still nothing after several days - a brief and courteous reply is all it would have taken to stop me posting my email to them: "Good morning My sister arranged... Uninterested staff, no porkbelly or pigs in blankets or cheesecake. Over done beef and broccoli, greasy potatoes and pancake Yorkshire pudding. I would have complained but I was with friends and didn't want them to feel uncomfortable. We wanted pudding but was put off by the quality of the main so we decided to leave and go for pudding elsewhere.... More
