Stopped for food on Sunday evening (about 7.30pm). Every table had the "Sunday Roast Menu" on it so I quite fancied that idea (well, a veggie roast) but when we went to order we were told there were no more roasts. We all had chips instead but the rosemary fries didn't seem very rosemary-fied. It wasn't awful, just all felt... More

We researched somewhere to stop off before heading back on our journey and thought this place was just right, how wrong were we. No drinks at the bar except bottled, (I appreciate the hot weather and having problems with the cellar but to me that is bad maintenance). Food was OK but the waiter who brought the food out was... This new Steamin' Billy pub is in a great location and now has a fantastic garden space to soak up the summer sun! Great range of drinks and burgers and nicely recently done-up.

A typical well run Greene King pub. A menu that will suit most tastes and a decent wine list and beers. Good and attentive waiting staff. A short walk to the High St. 8 minutes to the railway station by foot. 20 minutes from A303 and 15 minutes from M4. I didn't stay here so can't comment on the hotel... More

Not very expensive and not very tasty. My wife and I had dinner here last month and both were not impressed with our meals. They tasted like they just came out of the microwave. It's a shame such a beautiful, historic site would have average meals.

Dear me! The Bear used to be a nice town hotel with a pretty decent restaurant. Since its 'makeover' (or rather make-under), it's become a disorganised, grubby sub-Wetherspoons joint and it's not been a positive step. It was very busy when we arrived and decided to eat Sunday lunch (against the advice our the two friends with us, who we... More

The food was lovely but the staff do not seem to have been trained well regards to service and so this lets it down a bit. The building is lovely inside. Highly recommend the sandwiches.

The Bear public house in Hungerford is what I call a real traditional public house warm and very welcoming. From the moment you step off the busy street corner and enter you can see this is quite special, the atmosphere and the interior is so comfortable and whats on offer is outstanding, if you like traditional pub for a really... Met with few friends for drinks, the staff are not friendly and very rude! They had no customer service skills! by 11pm there was no announcement but they turned all lights off and told us to go! Very unprofessional! Won't be going back!

The worst evening for dinner ever. Waited over an hour for our start, which didn't arrive, just our tired, dried out main course. The rest of the guest had similar issues. We were pushed to have more drinks while we waited. We asked to speak to mangement, but told no manager was in the hotel. It is a great location... More
