We have walked past Ayo's so many times over the years so decided it was time we gave it a try. So glad we did - delicious paella - chicken and seafood - washed down with a cold beer. Big portions and with hindsight we...could have shared one between us. This place is always busy, and now we know why! We will be back!More

For some reason we'd never been to Ayo's before today, perhaps because of the mixed reviews - we love paella so much we hate to be disappointed (as we so often are). But I can tell you that not only is the paella delicious and...packed full of goodies, its incredibly cheap at €8.50 and you can have seconds! The waiting staff are friendly and efficient and the place works like a well oiled machine. Ayo is quite rightly a Nerja legend.More

The original chiringuito on Burriana beach, Ayo does great paella right on the beach. The queues outside are a hint at how good it is. And when you finish your first plate, you can simply ask for more for free. Great value at €8.50, it’s...not fancy and you’ll have sand under your feet, but it’s a great casual experience.More

This is an institution on the beach and you simply must go there if you get the chance. Sunday is the best day but I would get there before 1 pm as it gets packed and people are queueing to get in. There is no...reserving tables or credit codes allowed here We always have a medium portion of the paella and a grilled fish which are both fantastic. The good thing about the first named is that you can go back as many times as you like for a free of charge refill – you soon get full though! It is a bustling down to earth place so don’t expect fine dining but the staff are fantastic. Well trained, good natured and good fun. It is something of an institution round here having been going since 1979 so don’t miss out – it is one of the star attraction is here.More

We’ve been coming to Ayo’s for over 40 years! We absolutely love it here. It’s the highlight of our holiday every time we come to Nerja! Food is super fresh and all the staff are very friendly! It’s a must when you come to Spain!...Ideal family lunch place where you can chill and enjoy lovely food and drinks!More

We came here because the location was good by the beach and some reviews (depending where you look) recommended it. I was looking to treat my family with something good and I ended up embarrassing myself for doing so. The food is the worst I've...had in a very long time. The WORST PAELLA I've tried in Spain, it's bland and cheap, I guess for tourists that don't know well. The sides and other mains were just as rushed and bland. Avoid at all costs unless you have no standards. To top it off the service was unfriendly as they took for granted clients rolling in.More

I find it amazing so many people still que to get in this place.. the paella has the least amount of trinkets in it than almost anywhere the servers paella.. the oil used is the cheapest.. apparently you can have more plates if you eat...your first.. if you are an all you can eat family fill your boots.. otherwise avoid at all costs..More

This place is famous because you can have refill for the paella and it's only 8 euro. Very busy in summer come before 2pm.

This chiringuito is the best place to eat paella in Nerja. It has been there for decades and was started by the iconic, national treasure Ayo. I have been visiting for over thirty years now. You can see the paella being cooked over huge wood...fire. The staff are amazing considering the large amount of people. Prompt and friendly service.More

There were people with dogs on leads under the tables when I was there. It’s open air, very casual, on the beach with canopies over.

To be honest I don’t think they could be relied on for vegan food. We asked for a serving of paella with just chicken, no seafood, and they told us to pick out anything we didn’t want. They were not being rude, just very... More
