Very busy so be in no rush. Service is typically Spanish slow so order asap and wait. Food was ok and cheap for the area.

Really nice place, the older gentleman (who is the owner, I think) was so kind to us. The paella was great earlier in the day, but our group grew and the second wave weren't so fascinated by the dish. I personally thought it was perfect for the setting. Great Tinto de Verano right on the beach with a plate full... More

We always visit Ayo's for lunch at least twice on our regular visits to Nerja. It's not just that the paella is excellent and very good value for money (you can go back for as many platefuls as you can eat), the ambience is always superb as huge dishes of paella are cooked in the open air by the promenade.... We went to Ayo restaurant after the recommendation from our hotel. We decided to try the paelia and this review is based only on that. Paelia was good, had better though too much rise too little seafood. The plus is that with the big portion you have free refills

Had lunch here. Basic beach restaurant with good old fashioned Spanish cooking. Watch as he chefs cok on giant stoves on beach front, amazing. Paella was delicious and very cheap.

Come to see the huge, communal paella pans where Ayo has been serving beachgoers every day for over 30 years. Ayo was one of the five teenage boys who discovered the Nerja caves over 50 years ago. A great beachfront dining experience!

Called in for a drink beach side as the place although massive did not appear to be busy. The smell of the fire on which they cooked their paella was probably the best thing about this place. Staff were NOT attentive at all and several members of staff walked past us without even acknowledging our presence. Two local couples walked... More

You know u can't go wrong when you see so many locals eating here. Decent size portions of paella and salads. Only snag is that it's cash only....

After 20 years of enjoying lunch at The Ayo whenever we have been in Nerja, I think it is fair to say that it is not so much fun anymore. The paella is still great for the price and a welcome innovation is that you can now get half portions of fried boquerones and calimari. Together with the paella, this... More
