"Two mad chiefs" cooking amazing food in a wonderful place

With family or friends, so much pleasant moments spent in this incredible place perched atop the cliffs and overlooking the ocean. From starter to dessert, only food was able to outperform the view. Whether seafood, fish or meat, everything was delicious and, despite our many meals at the Mad, we did not stop being surprised by the always very varied proposals from the chefs. In short terms, modern cooking respecting the products of the land and the sea, served in an idyllic place by a staff willing to be spontaneous, friendly and very welcoming !

Great food!

The dishes were really nice. I even enjoyed my chicken gizzards, I am normally not a big fan. We furthermore had octopus, salmon sashimi, goat chees, goat chees with figs, steak, all accompanied with a nice bottle of wine. Three little comments: you can only pay with cash, the food came in stages though we said we wanted everything at the same time, and a key was missing on the bathroom door.

A place for every occasion. Simply perfect.

We have moved to Portugal and I was taken here for a business lunch. The staff we attentive and we asked them to choose out meal and wine. 4 hours later we left after a perfect meal. The next visit was two weeks ago for our wedding anniversary. The experience was so special. The staff made us laugh. The dishes were complex and simple. Flavours came from every direction. My wife adored it. Last Sunday we were asked to go for a birthday lunch for 12 people. Course after course of small dishes to tempt the palette. Then is happened a dish was served that I sampled and oh dear I just wanted it all for me. Maybe the most beautiful thing I can remember tasting. A marinated salmon cut finely with ginger, honey, pepper, fennel, rice vinegar. I had to reach out to Slavo the next day for the recipe. Do I recommend this place. Yes I do for every occasion. Thank you to all at this jewel of a restaurant

Really disappointed.

We haven't eaten here for over a year. Had some of the best meals in the area here. Not today. There were 16 covers when we arrived with 2 people serving so not very busy. 4 more arrived after us. Ordered a couple of drinks and it took them 20 minutes to arrive. We had the covert board. It seemed quite poor compared to last time. We both liked the look of the chicken, prawn and clam pasta. It took 40 minutes to arrive and while hubby struggled through it I couldn't eat the pasta as it was way too salty. Just picked the meat and seafood out of it. So cover board, coke, water and two almost inedible pastas: €46.50. We've never minded paying in the past as the food and service was great. Today it was appalling. The waiter saw I'd left the pasta and I told him why. But didn't suggest replacing it or anything.

A special little place near the beach

Small intimate restaurant with a beach vibe. Food is always well presented and uses high quality local ingredients. Wine list has some excellent options. While the price is high for a regional Portuguese restaurant the location, service and ambiance make up for it. The Two Spicy Chefs Camarao (big shrimp) and the Linguiero (Razor clams) are delicious.

We were told about this place a while ago by a local guy where we live. This restaurant is definitely different, the menu is suitable for vegetarians besides meat and fish lovers. The food was amazing as are the views. Besides the entreés we shared a prawn and scallop starter (more than enough prawns for two prople), my husband had fillet of cod, while I had John Dory, both excellent choices and delicious, we both had dessert, Caramelo Ice and Ice Age, very tasty, the Ice Age was light and refreshing. We agreed this was one of the best restaurants we could have chosen in the area. Staff were very courteous and helpful. We reserved a table for two at 14:30 and it was pretty busy when we arrived. Definitely will return in the future.....

My prefered Restaurant in this area, thanks Monika and Slavo for this excellent meal today. Everything is freshly cooked, if you turn around here take a look and taste this cuisine of Two spicy chefs. You will not be disappointed.

Expensive, but it is worth it

Although expensive, it's one of those reataurants, that you feel you wouldn't make it better at home. The guys not only know about food, but thwy will be able to recommend a good wine for the fodd you choose. Give it a try

The restaurant is perfect for a relax moment, the food is good!! We had the razershell with rice. The combination of the taste of the ocean and freshness of the seafood. Was amazing the rice was cooked perfect and had a amazing tasted. Staff is very friendly and open. We didn’t know you needed to pay with cash and they allowed us to get cash out of the ATM machine. 5 stars for the chef for preparing the food 5 stars for the staf!! Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

Beautiful location & modern cuisine food.

Lovely restaurant at a beautiful location on a cliff, overlooking the beach. Passionate owner with a daily fresh menu. Need to book in advance and only open few days a week. Fair pricing for the food and wine.

Great location, great seafood

A bit off the beaten track but well worth the journey (as is the local beach too, when it’s quiet). Remember to book as the restaurant is not large. The food was excellent (I recommend the octopus). The service was efficient and very friendly. Do try it!

This is one of the best restaurants in the area. It caters for vegetarians besides meat and fish lovers. The dishes are different and the choices are very good. Quality of the products they source is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We couldn't get in during the summer period, but even now that it's quieter in the area it is better to make reservation.

Exquisitely MAD

Words cannot fully express the gratitude for the amazing time I experience every single time I go to MAD. Not only is the atmosphere super classy, sexy, and fun, the unique menu and stellar wine & spirits makes it a special time for me and my guests. They put a lot of thought into the art and display, which is very closely tied to Houston's history (particularly NASA). And last but certainly least, their staff are like no other; they treat you like royalty AND a friend. The second time I went there, the bartender actually remembered my name! Being new(ish) to Houston, this is definitely one of my favorite hotspots, and the one venue at the top of my list when hosting out-of-town family and friends. FIVE STARS!!!
