I drove to Strandhill to watch the surfers and lucked into a seat at Shells Cafe at lunchtime. Delicious fish/crab cakes were served with a lovely salad. Browse the gift shop for locally made creations. One senses the artistic spirit of the people behind Shells Cafe. The freshly baked desserts really stood out. I returned to my Sligo hotel with... Sat here for three hours, the best salad I have ever had. If you do not visit Shells then you have wasted a trip to Strandhill

The food here is nice if a little bordering on average and certainly not worth waiting for over half an hour for a table. I would go back here again but only if a table was immediately available.

We always enjoy breakfast at Shells, it's our go to place. Eggs Benny is the favourite!! It's great to get a window seat to lip out at the sea whether it's sunny or raining. Leave room for amazing cakes or take some home. Shells staff are so friendly and there's always a warm welcome. A visit to Sligo is not... More

The fish here is so fresh, it's about to jump off the plate. Every dish is cooked quickly to order by the hard working staff and presented beautifully. This is a wonderful cafe, it is no wonder it is so busy. We had to give our name and wait for a table to become available. But it was worth the... More

A great spot full of locals. You get a great mix of surfers and spectators from town enjoying Shells. The cafe is adjoined by a nice shop that sells lots of local produce from food to souvenirs. The cafe is lovely on a rainy day to enjoy the rain pelting off the window while you enjoy your suasages and a... More
