We visited twice recently on Sunday evening .both times we did nt book but we're accommodated promptly. We really enjoyed the food overall but the portions are so big a starter is not Nessacary . Myself and my partner "dined" at the poets rest on New Years eve. The food was very poor. I could tell that my mushroom starter was cooked from frozen and my curry was bland and forgettable. My desert was awfully disappointing. I ordered a chocolate mousse cake that was supposed to come with a hazelnut brittle. What I actually got... More

Quiet when we called. Food was excellent. Staff very good. Quiet reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Lovely Resturant , nise staff and value for money but food was not nise. All frozen food and very greezy won't be returning

Hit on Poet's Rest by accident while in lovely Slane Village doing a river walk. Our appetite was up after our exertions and we were not disappointed. We were given table in quite corner which was great for conversion within the group. Staff made us comfortable and took our order quite quickly, and had no problems getting it right straight... More

This place looks great when you enter, it has a nice atmosphere. We went recently on a Friday evening. The food was reasonable but nothing I couldn't make at home. The main problem was how slow the service was. For a 3 course meal we were there for 2.5 hours and that is not because we wanted to sit there...... More

very nice people. but whoever said the steak served at Poets Rest was good, didn't have what we had. They have an "American" Ribeye on the menu. the menu description said it was on the bone.and was well over cooked. - it was not.Overall the food was blay. we had a lovely early dinner here on a rainy afternoon. recommend the steak. don't be put off by the plastic covered menus -- food really was quite good!

The poets rest is a place to go friendly staff,excellent food and surroundings In the historic village of Slane On the night of our visit we were greeted as a guest and left as a friend the choice of menu is excellent and there is always something for everyone We will be back again
