Newsagents, sweetshop, cafe and gift shop. Great service and friendly staff. The cafe has a community feel to it and locals often meet for a coffee.

As a regular cyclist it is not always easy to find a challenging cycling route with the added bonus of a fantastic coffee stop en route. Maguires of Tara however is much more than just a coffee shop. They offer a delicious range of dishes and all have a home cooked quality about them. The service is swift and the... More

My husband and I built up an appetite after walking around the Hill of Tara, so this was a welcome respite for lunch. It was busy (with a family having a birthday party for their one year old), but the food arrived in a decent amount of time. We put in our order with the wait staff and then paid... More

Maguires is a place I go quite often as the food and coffee is consistently good all year round. It is located right at the Hill of Tara which is a great place to go for a walk and weather dependant will offer amazing views of surrounding counties

I was expecting more than I got, friends had recommended this cafe for its food. Maybe I ordered too plain. I had the vegetable soup, ham and cheese panini, chocolate brownie and hot chocolate. The soup was average, same with the panini, the brownie was very dense and heavy, the hot chocolate again average. The homemade ice cream definitely exceeded... More

Often visit Maguires everytime we're in Tara. It's always heaving with visitors both locals and from far afield, always a good sign! Try to get there in the morning before the tour buses arrive or in late afternoon after they've globe, otherwise you'll be queuing and waiting for a table. Great service with a smile and a nice menu full... More

Called with a foreign friend, nice day so decided to sit out the back. Tables filthy. Leaves, litter, cigarette butts and food scraps covering the cobble-lock....but we were sitting, so decided to stay. After waiting 15 mins without service, they were extremely busy inside, went in to order "Tara Special" which used to he a mini coffee caftiere per person... More
