Visited The Grainne Uaile on Thursday evening and enjoyed a first class meal at a very reasonable price.Food was served promptly, was fresh, well cooked and exactly as ordered. The open prawn sandwich was superb as was the oak smoked salmon served as a main rather than a starter. Overall an excellent meal.

I called in to the Grainne Uaile, on Friday for a soup and sandwich and was tempted by a gorgeous bowl of sea food chowder and a triple decker BLT;[bacon lettuce and tomato with a lovely slice of turkey added]. I was served by Thomas who was most attentive to my needs and was disappointed to see that I was... More

Ate here lots of times in the past when in Newport, unfortunately having recently stopped off for dinner I will be skipping here for a while. The place has gone downhill, a lovely cosy bar but unfortuanately the staff don't seem interested ! The waitress could barely wait for me to finish our order ! Then the food that arrived... More

Myself and 3 friends travelled from Armagh, Down and Galway to spend New Years here...... Where can I possibly start? The owners were exceptional from the beginning, welcomed us with open arms as though we had knew them for years, we enjoyed a light evening meal and drinks in the bar. The craic was great and everything was perfect. I... More

I was touring on the Wild Atlantic Way. Someone recommended Westport for seafood but i rode through with nowhere catching my eye. I rode through Newport too but something about the look of this place made me turn around. Right choice. Walked in and discovered a great selection of fresh seafood. A warm reception for a quiet grey October day.... More

Fab food and great staff, relax beside the open fire and some great local crafted beers. A Local pub with a great atmosphere and welcome.

Good wifi and comfortable seating. Variable menu in summer months, with large portions and quick service. Lots of character with some stone walling, many artifacts and a sense of history. Local painters display their offerings and there is music often in the evenings. A good place to spend a few hours in comfortable and pleasant surroundings.

Where does one start? Food bland, ridiculously over-priced menu, staff are unapproachable, unhelpful and unfriendly and both the male & female owners are downright rude. The atmosphere is non-existent (how does that even happen in an Irish pub!) Reading the positive reviews on here is like reading about a different eatery. This place has been poor for years and nothing... More

After a long wet bike ride we took sanctuary here for some warming home made food. The service and welcome is amazing. Atmosphere is great. The food was great try the chowder. The owner told us the stories behind her wonderful paintings. Enjoy this lovely pub.
