we eat here regularly, and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. It's not the cheapest restaurant, but I consider the quality well worth the few Euro per head extra. Staff are friendly, and the ambiance of Carlingford makes it just that little bit special. I frankly don't understand the negative reviews; I've been coming here for... More

In Carlingford for a hiking weekend and had booked Magees on spec from reviews on this site. Superb seafood, started with oysters - 6 huge ones and gorgeous. Main wa shake with prawns in a light herby butter sauce and champ - again a simple dish but well cooked. Partner a bit disappointed with his crab starter but his turbot... More

Called in early evening on spec and got a table on the way from a business trip. Food really tasty with a good wine list, not cheap but decent value for money. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable, we left a cardigan and they arranged to get it collected by one of my colleagues . Will definitely go back... More

Was looking forward to this for ages! Being that it has my favourite name ever for a Bistro.! Kept trying to rock in without a booking and was always busy! Great sign I thought! Finally called in this evening and delighted to see the seafood based menu. Very polite and helpful staff and place looked great with a tasty draft!... More

An absolutely delicious meal, fish was fresh out of the ocean and very tasty, beautifully prepared, delicious wine...Only down side was ordered an avocado side salad and got about 3 tiny slivers of avocado and we were last to leave at 11.45 so felt under pressure to finish up...other than that super!

myself and my friend Mairead went here as a treat for my birthday, the food here is fantastic and the ambience is lovely, the food is a bit pricey but i guess your paying for the town surrounding your in. inspite of this i would still go back, you haven't been to Carlingford unless you've dined in Magee's

We started off with a cocktail and they went down really well. My original mojito was very good. Both starters and mains were of a very high standard. None of us had any issues whatsoever. I ordered the Surf&Turf as a main and while I ordered my steak to be medium-well, I believe that this was done a bit too... More
