Had lunch there today. I had a duo of crab and smoked salmon. It comes with bread, butter and a small salad. It tasted gorgeous. I also liked the craft beer from Clifden (Bridewell) that they have on tap.

Had no idea where to eat in the area and took a shot at this place. What a great choice. Sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Slow off the start but we wore him down and he responded nicely. Think his name was Nick. Anyway, pints were cold and good. Started out with the mussels. Big order,... More

Excellent food and good Guinness. What more could you want. I had the seafood chowder which was delicious followed by fresh mussels from Killary harbour. It was very filling an I wished I had had the smaller "starter" portion of mussels. Service was friendly an efficient although I still have not quite worded out why my chowder and mussels arrived... After a long walk at Connemara National Park, we picked Veldon's for lunch. The seafood chowder was terrific. Our waitress was very friendly but she wasn't around much. The other food was so-so. Perhaps it was an off day.

Came here today with 3 friends to the worst dining experiences of our lives. Upon arriving we seated ourselves outside to a table with a shell doubling as an ashtray and full to the top with butts, which, after 3 visits from a 'waitress' was not removed and when it eventually was due to my bringing it to her attention... We visited Veldon's several times while on holiday nearby. Most of the time we called in for a Guiness but we had one meal which was excellent.

We stopped in for lunch recently. We had an amazing seafood chowder and mussels. Both were excellent! The sauce on the mussels was divine...however, a portion of chips with it instead of the bread would be better, then you could put all the chips in the yummy sauce to finish! Recommended.

We had lunch at Veldon's after a visit to the Kylemore Abbey. It was a friendly place, with good food, excellent service, and clean surroundings. The prices were very affordable.

Description
Veldons Seafarer Bar and Restaurant is located in Letterfrack village at one of the main crossroads in Connemara – the heart of Connemara! We are located along the Wild Atlantic Way where the landscape is shaped by the sea and the local characters are full of creativity and chat.

The bar has been a hub of activity for many years with Veldons Bar also being main grocers in the area. The old shop is now our great new restaurant.

We aim to offer a friendly welcoming atmosphere where locals and visitors can enjoy a visit.

Great food is served all day in the bar and we also have a separate restaurant. We are perfectly located for a quick coffee and sandwich before you carry on with your journey, a hearty steak after you have conquered Diamond Hill, or make a weekend of it and enjoy the ambiance of our restaurant followed by a pint in the bar!

There is always a smiling face and a warm welcome in Veldons Seafarer.
