From the minute we walked in atmosphere, service was fantastic as is it should be. Starters we had pork belly and black pudding, and the chowder. Both were fabulous, fresh, delicious, and well presented. Mains we had the hake and monkfish again everything was perfect. You could taste and see that the chef took great pride and care in their work. We didnt have dessert regrettably but very satisfied with what we had. Finished off with an expresso martini and coffee. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening out and furthermore it was 5 star dining without the 5 star pricing, just exceptional. 2 starters, 2 mains, bottle of white wine, coffee and cocktail, our bill was €120. To top it off the chef came out at the end of the night and chatted to customers. A lovely person and after talking to him it was obvious he was very passionate about food. Don't hesitate to book the boathouse restaurant. We will be back next time we are in killybegs.

Am up in Killybegs for a few days to visit friends. Killybegs is a marvellous town to visit especially if you are into a warm welcome and fine fish. I had an early dinner in the Boathouse restaurant and even though I have been here before on this occasion it surpassed it's previous high rating. The star of the show is fish served simply but beautifully cooked and presented. The special tonight was black sole, a notoriously difficult dish to find on any menu. It was landed in the harbour this morning. The whole fish was served simply and impeccably cooked. This chef knows what he is doing. If you want a Michelin star experience at regular pricing, don't miss Anderson's Boathouse Restaurant in Killybegs.

I dined at this restaurant while part of a group tour, and while I was not quite certain at first, I found that I had visited perhaps the best seafood restaurant in all of Ireland. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially for such a large party, and the atmosphere was truly something incredible. There was a great view of the harbor in Killybegs, and one could see the sun set throughout the meal. The food was, however, nothing short of phenomenal. The collection of seafood dishes were well-cooked and fresh, as if they were straight from the ocean that day. Each dish was prepared and served properly, and each dish was incredibly delicious. Anderson's Boathouse is well worth a visit and I will gladly visit again should I have the chance to do so.

I have eaten here numerous times in the past & was always excellent but unfortunately not on this occasion. I was hosting friends & had booked this as it was a special occasion. The service was very slow, it took about 30 mins for our wine & water to arrive, we had to remind the waitress. Our starters were good but the mains were so disappointing. My friends Hake was raw & we had to return that. This was removed from the bill but the new dish arrived when we had finished eating & my friend ate on her own. Another dish of black sole priced at €38.50 while tasty was very small. The sides of vegetables were meagre to say the least, with the tiny square of potato gone in one bite. We decided to skip desserts. Overall very disappointing & I'm not sure that I will return anytime soon.

Our orders were taken quickly. We ordered a carafe of tap water with ice. We had to remind the server about it and when it arrived the neck of the carsfe was stuffed with ice cubes rendering it impossible to pour. It was quickly taken away and re-served correctly. I ordered the black sole. It arrived unencumbered by the specified vegetables- baby boiled potatoes etc. About ten minutes in we asked about vegetables and we all (4 of us) were served with identical dishes of vegetables, which were certainly NOT specified in the description of each main course ordered. Furthermore we each received two CHUNKS of carrott which were almost mashed they were so oversdone. The vegetables were also so hot that the only concluusion we could come too was that they had been re-heated in a microwave. BAD. As i said, I ordered the black sole. It was a peculiar shade of orange on the outside and verging on the dry, with the edges and tail extremely hard and chewy. All for 38€50! BAD again. When asked i told the server what i thought but he was uninterested. He didn't even apologise. Once we had given our orders the service was very slow with us having to remind the servers of several things and, on one occasion, told that they were "very busy at the back". I was wondering who was getting served and why they were prioritised over us. My first experience of Anderson's was not good. I doubt that i will make a second visit.

I have been to the Boathouse on numerous occasions and there is no doubt that the food is exquisite. We were looking forward to going there as our valentines meal and it's safe to say we will never be back at this restaurant due to the value for money and the customer service. When myself and my partner visited on the 17th of February the experience was less than satisfactory to say the very least. We ordered a starter and main course. First of all I ordered the bruschetta which was an extremely measly portion for 10.95. I did not complain as we had high hopes for the main course. My partner ordered the Monkfish which was 25 euro and when it came out we were shocked at the size of the dish. It was three coin-like pieces of fish on the plate on a tiny bed of mash with a few vegetables on the side dish. When my partner asked if it was meant to be like this or had there been a mistake the server, who was a girl, answered extremely abruptly by saying 'Yes that's the way it comes' and walked away. When the what looked to be a male manager came to the table he asked was everything else all right and remarked that 'It's a dear slice of fish'. He too, walked away from the table without bothering to talk to the kitchen or ask us was there anything he could do. We appreciate that it was busy that evening however the customer service was non existent. We were treated that way there was absolutely no compensation however the kitchen sent two free cocktails to the table beside us. After the main course ordeal the staff avoided our table like the plague and we waited for the bill and card machine to come while the waitresses made eye contact everytime they passed the table without bothering about us. I'm very sorry to say that we will never be back in the boathouse which is very unfortunate as the food is nice however we were treated extremely unfairly and will not be back to this restaurant and wouldn't recommend anyone who values customer service to attend here either.

Excellent fine and tasty cuisine not always obvious to find in Ireland 😉. The Seafood platter was actually 5 cooked fish served with a scallop and crab claw. Served with vegetables and gratin dauphinois. Meat as excellent. One of the best restaurants of our stay.

Today's "catch of the day" included three different fish fillets to choose from. The portion size is great and three courses are definitely manageable. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We'd be happy to come back. We recommend making a reservation in advance and it's possible to do so online.

We had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for some time. Beautifully and simply decorated inside, we were shown to our table. Staff were lovely and professional. We placed our orders and awaited our starters. One of our group had oysters and said they were amazing. The pork belly starter with black pudding bon bons were a treat and the chowder was beautiful with lots of chunky fish and a creamy thick consistency. The pea soup was sooooo 'pea-y' and flavoursome. The mains were tasty-monkfish went down well, as did the gaelic chicken. Unfortunately the order for the surf and turf hadn't been taken down properly and it was brought out as just a steak. The steak was taken away to include the 'surf' which took about 7-8 mins. By which time the rest of us had started on our mains. The steak was also returned as medium, when it had been ordered as a rare. As there had already been a delay, the member of our party ate it (obviously hungry) without mentioning the mistake. All a bit of a kafuffle. The desserts were well received as were the Irish coffees and espresso martini. Despite the mix up over the steak, it was a pleasant dinner and we appreciated the lovely staff. If it hadn't been for the steak issue, we would have been super impressed with our experience.

Such a wonderful evening we enjoyed at Anderson’s Boathouse. The food was delicious! The service was excellent! I was there with my husband, adult children and our 7 month grandson and we could not have felt more welcomed. My daughter in law was naturally nervous about bringing the baby but the baby must have sensed the welcoming, hospitable atmosphere and the meal went off without a hitch. We also felt comfortable asking for wine and food recommendations and the food arrived hot and delicious! For a fine dining experience, I would not hesitate recommending Anderson Boathouse.

Recommended by a friend the night before when he heard we were going to Killybegs. It didn’t disappoint. We both had the ‘Sea Trout’ it was to die for and they sell half bottles of wine as my wife wasn’t drinking. Altogether a great meal. Well worth booking in advance. 5 star in our book…… oh we shared a sweet but don’t tell anybody.

Visited with family and friends on a Saturday night. Beautiful setting and lovely welcoming atmosphere inside the restaurant. The menu selection was fantastic. Catering for all tastes with so many tantalising options. The scallops starter was beautiful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed both courses. The undoubted highlight was the seafood platter. It had a sample of most of the main courses and was absolutely gorgeous!!! Nice selection of wines, drinks and deserts. For 4 adults and 3 kids the bill was €340 so certainly on the more expensive side but you don’t mind paying extra when it tastes so good. The head waiter spent time talking with us and also the chef came out at the end of the evening to check in with us. All in all a fantastic experience and highly recommend making the trip

Had dinner here a few days ago. Outstanding food and excellent value for money. I had six stunning Donegal oysters to start, followed by Sea Trout which was not long out of the Atlantic. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. We'll be back.

Went recently to this lovely restaurant for a late lunch/early supper. Sat outside to take advantage of the mild weather and views of the harbour but the interior is light and pretty. Smallish menu with some specials (that could have been a little more up-sold). Service efficient and friendly and well chosen and priced wine list but the star is the food. Every single dish beautifully executed plus a complimentary amuse bouche served to one of the party who had decided not to have a starter. Delightful - can't wait to return.

My wife and I traveled a good bit out of our way to stay in Killybegs and to try this restaurant and it was a spectacular decision! We enjoyed multiple courses, some delicious wine and a terrific conversation with the owner/Chef Gary. We couldn’t speak more highly of this restaurant experience and encourage all visitors to Ireland to make the journey to killybegs to see Gary and his team. Thank you Chef!
