Visited easter Monday for lunch. Welcoming atmosphere, sophisticated decor, shy staff and the highest sandwich prices in the country. 3 open sandwiches (1.5 slices of brown bread per serve) accompanied by a mini side salad wouldnt even touch the sides so we ordered a portion of chips between us... which was literally a fistful. We had a glass of water... More

Everything about The Bosun is perfectly satisfactory, it's comfortable and warm, the service is prompt and efficient, the portions are very generous and the location is lovely with splendid views from the front though not from most of the inside. The only caveat is that the food is only average pub food. The menu is large so there is plenty... More

We were a bit nervous when we entered with our 4 kids as it had a hushed tone about the place and seemed very posh. Thankfully the staff were lovely and as we settled in the atmosphere is not posh but more old world!, We had 2 adults fish and chips, 1 kids pasta, burger and 2 sausages All the... More

The Bosun has been a favourite for years - the menu is good, the staff are lovely and the service is great. Expect it busy at weekends especially Sunday lunch. The fish and chips are divine as it the seafood platter.

Four of us had Sunday lunch here. We ate in the dining room rather than the bar as we could book a table. The Bar was very busy with lots of diners. It is well laid out and looked very comfortable. The dining room was well set out , white linen table cloths, an appropriately attentive waiter and good food... More

Food was edible but very poor. The abundance of gravyboats was slightly unnerving. Guessing the owner has a side business in gravyboat manufacturing. At one stage we had 3 gravyboats on our table. Obviously they aren't cautious of cross contamination as having ordered some mayonnaise for my chips the waitress returned asking if I was finished, although I'd hardly eaten... More

This place looks lovely outside and if the sun is shining Wud a lovely place to sit out n the sun for a drink and some food. It is quite old fashioned Inside. I ate here on a Sunday afternoon - the menu is huge - the options and choice was great ! I had the roast beef and my... More

We visited this restaurant on two consecutive evenings, largely due to convenience. The second time almost totally erased the negative taste of the first, but not entirely. The food and drink were good both nights. The service was cold, unresponsive and I typically unwelcoming. Our waiter seemed more focused on vacuuming the carpets nearby than serving us. The secret may... More

We were a party of six and were impressed when our food was delivered simultaneously by three waiters. The menu sticks to the straight and narrow and hasn't changed, I suspect, in many years! Still, we had a very enjoyable evening and would go back.
