This was quite unique, dining in a greenhouse, where the tomato vines grow right beside the tables, bees visit the flowers near your table, and you can snip off basil from the pot on your table, to add to anything you like. The tomato soup...and bread buffet was very generous, and I add a "chicken stick" to my order (a skewer of cooked chicken breast with roasted cherry tomatoes also on it)_ My husband had the mussels, and the buttery tomato sauce they were served in was divine. Service was fine, but the staff were moving quite quickly, as the place was always full and turning over frequently.More

Loved the ambiance in the restaurant! We were greeted, promptly seated and given a mini tour of the greenhouse. The tomato farm supplies 40% of Iceland’s demand and the tomatoes grow right next to the tables on the vines. They also show case bumblebee boxes...that they use to pollinate the flowers in the greenhouse. Definitely try the salsa (pickled cucumber) and the bread buffet + tomato soup!More

Where else can you eat in a giant greenhouse? The tomato soup/bread buffet was good, if slightly pricey. The heirloom tomato mozzarella salad is great. There's even tomato beer, and fresh basil for you at the table. You're mostly here for the experience, but the...food is more than adequate. Also a small gift shop for souvenirs. We came very late in the day and they kindly squeezed us in. Beware that they are not open for dinner.More

Not only is the food amazing, but their customer service is the best. I live in America and wanted to order two bottles of tomato soup to be shipped to the US. I contacted them and they told me it was perfectly fine. When the...soup arrived, one of the bottles was damaged. I contacted them, and told them the issue. They shipped out a replacement, free of charge. Now, you have to understand, shipping something from Iceland to the US is expensive. I am certain that they lost money on doing this for me, but they have earned a lifelong customer. I will be ordering more soup in the future, and next time I'm in Iceland, I'll definitely stop by. Again, I can't praise them enough, and the food is amazing. The best tomato soup in the world is a completely accurate description. Highly, highly recommend.More

We wish we'd known about this place sooner to schedule a reservation. As it was, we just showed up and were able to eat some snacks in their bar, drink some tomato drinks. It is quite a unique place and worth a visit. Something out...of the ordinary for sure. It will be busy! Didn't get a seat in the restaurant to try from their full menu, but what we had hit the spot and it was more about and adventure in Tomato-land than anything else. We definitely recommend... but try and get reservations if you can!More

Nice environment but menu is limited and could do so much more with the hero tomato dishes. Soup buffet is really just one soup and bread, wouldn’t take much to make two soup varieties rather than just one simple plain tomato soup. Pasta was okay...but sauce was very thin and plain. In general bit underwhelmed which is sad as could be so much moreMore

We had a small tomato soup with bread at the bar, as we were told to wait 20 min for a table. The soup was nice and it’s cool to sit in between the tomato plants, but it’s more touristic than we expected (it’s still...a quiet time in Iceland, due to COVID)More

Went there for lunch and really enjoyed it. The tomato soup was really good and the homemade bread was just amazing. The cucumber salsa you get to put on your bread was so good and interesting, something you wouldn’t necessarily expect. The service was great,...everyone was so polite and nice. Also the fact that the restaurant is in a greenhouse made the whole experience amazing and their tomato concept is so fun and unique. You can also buy delicious souvenirs - jam, sauces and more tomato related things! Heads up though, they are only open on weekends and I would recommend to make reservations because they are almost always fully booked. But go there it is so worth it !More

I am uncertain when they're open but check website. You can also just stop in for a bowl of soup and bread....sit at the cafe/bar area....much less expensive and can tour through the tomato greenhouse afterwards.

Welcome to Friðheimar :) We recommend to plan the trip from Reykjavík to Friðheimar as a 1,5 hour trip if you drive road 1 to the south and then road 35 to the inland. We always recommend to book in advance :)
