We stumbled upon this restaurant 4 years and it was so good we dined twice there that trip. Upon returning to Iceland we planned our itinerary around returning here again as the food was that exceptional. Every single dish we tried was phenomenal. The lobster...soup and beef tenderloin are the best we have ever had. Highly recommend.More

The Lobster soup was so spicy that I could not finish it. Tasted nothing like a lobstersoup. The portion was so small and only two very small slizes of baguett did come with it. When my husband asked for extra bread that was not possible...witout paing extra for a slize of bread! What a ripp off. I ordered a glass of white wine with the soup but could not finish the glass as the strong spice from the soup made the wine taste funny. Such a shame as this restaurant is so cozy, but we will not come back here.More

This is a really lovely restaurant. The decor is superb and the staff were very helpful, fitting us in when they were already very busy. We started with a cocktail each, which were well prepared and presented . For food, I had the salmon in...basil, which is one of the nicest things I have ever eaten! I can not recommend this restaurant enough. It is a bit more expensive than other options, but is a classic case of you get what you pay for. Definitely go if you're in SelfossMore

Excellent food and very eclectic menu. Try the whale or the horse! Very Centrally located and across from ice cream shop if you need some sweets. When in Selfoss hit up this spot

We visited Iceland for 2 weeks and had diner each day at a different location. We had the best meals in this restaurant, we had a delicious fish soup, outstanding beef tenderloin and special ice cream with crumble as desert. They forgot to bring my...daughters hamburger at the same time and rushed immediately to have it brought , we even got it for free which was very appreciated.More

We had enjoyed a busy day outside, hiking and visiting the geyser and waterfalls, and wanted simple, wholesome and tasty food. This is exactly what we got here. The edamame starter had a fabulous soy sauce. For mains I had the salmon and my wife...the fillet tails - both were perfectly sourced and cooked and filled us up to the point we had no room left for their excellent looking dessert menu. The wine list was (by Icelandic standards!) very reasonably priced and we each had a glass of Sangiovese. The two servers were really friendly and professional and did a great job. Thank you!More

This building is a historic Selfoss building that is kept up nicely. Food and presentation were excellent. We had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Staff was quick and attentive. An excellent restaurant choice in the area.

This restaurant was charming, had great food, and great service. There were 6 of us, and we had a round table in a small room, which made it so easy for conversation. The restaurant is in an old house, so all the dining areas are...broken up into small rooms/sections. It's charming! There was a good happy hour drinks menu (and alcohol can be $$ in Iceland!) and the food was amazing.More

Excellent burgers on fresh rolls with a Big Mac type sauce that seemed to be homemade. Fries were cooked to perfection. Nice glass of red wine to wash it down. Service was good too. We would return again if we make it back to Selfoss.

Oldest building in Solfess. I had the best salmon in my life. Our dinner was a fresh salad, entree and a lave cake with ice cream. Great cocktails. Very good service.

Our family of 4 had a really good meal here at Tryggvaskali. I was glad that I booked ahead online because the restaurant was full when we arrived. We tried the horse carpaccio and whale tataki for fun appetizers (small portions). We had the steak,...fish, lamb kebab and chicken salad. The fish was really good, fresh and delicious. The lamb kebab was tender and the crispy potatoes were so good. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. I had a blueberry cocktail that was tasty too. I highly recommend booking a table here if you're staying in Selfoss.More
