I had a dinner at this restaurant with a group of friends. The service was slow and the food was not good. I had for a main course an oven baked ling which was dry and overcooked and for dessert a Tiramisu ”Riverside”. It was...definitely restaurants own recipe because it was like a jello and nothing like regular Tiramisu. I do not recommend this restaurant.More

I had dinner while on a group tour. The menu was 3-course and pre-selected for us, though they substituted a salad for a soup I didn’t want. The entree was a large and tender boneless lamb chop with vegetables. Excellent though not a lean cut...of meat. The chocolate lava cake was exceptional. The big problem with this restaurant is that this meal took 2.5 hours! There was no explanation for the massive delays that occurred between all courses. Nothing they served was complicated enough to justify this.More

We ate twice here while staying at the hotel. Food was excellent. Lamb was awesome as was fish and chips. Menu has limited selections but everything we had was great. There are wonderful views of the river from this restaurant. There is a nicely stocked...bar here. Service was good but not overly attentive.More

Dining w new friends on an Iceland travel tour. Everyone had something different and the food was good, the service was just okay. It’s definitely a different dining experience in Iceland than in any other place we’ve been before. It seems like since there is...no expectation of tipping servers are just meh about serving.More

My husband and I had dinner at Riverside Restaurant while staying at Hotel Selfoss. It was one of the better meals on our trip! We started our meal with beef carpaccio, which had plenty of parmesan on it and was very good. I had the...beef filet, which was cooked a bit rarer than I would like, but tasty otherwise. My husband had the lamb, which he enjoyed. We finished our meal with a chocolate cake, which definitely hit the spot! The price was on the high side but not unexpected for fine dining. The service was very good, especially for Iceland where the service seems to typically be a lot less attentive than we're used to. The view was lovely from the restaurant windows. I'd definitely recommend visiting Hotel Selfoss' Riverside Restaurant if you're in the area!More

Iceland is very expensive so any place where you can save a little money is always appreciated. I checked into the Selfoss Hotel after a long day on the road and was excited to learn that I could get a gin and tonic for US...$5. The restaurant has a cute little bar with very friendly bartenders and reasonably priced drinks during happy hour.More

My wife and I are staying Hotel Selfoss. It’s a really nice 4 star hotel - beside a beatiuful River, modern spacious room with a lovely view, and the first time in Iceland we’ve had a fridge. Courteous staff and very clean. But ... dinner...was very disappointing. We opted for a low cost meal of their ˋAngus beef burger´. The burgers were insipid. The burger patties were frozen ones, the yellow chips were oven fried and the buns were soft and doughy. They contrasted so poorly against the fantastic bluecheese burgers we had only two days ago at Smidjan Brugghus in Vik. We gave feedback to two waitresses who said they usually didn’t receive negative feedback about the food. Ok ...More

A lovely atmosphere and view to complement with friendly professional and polite staff. My only reason for not giving four stars is our main meal of the fish and chips which was listed as a special was a little underwhelming. The started of smoked salmon...on the other hand was really nice and I wish we could have had more of that instead. The restaurant offers a discount for hotel guests dining. Everything was clean and tidy. Table water and bread and butter provided.More

You have to book early to get a window seat , but the whole restaurant enjoys the ambience that the view provides. There is a buffet and ala carte menu, but we choose the specials as these were such good value. Food was excellent.

We ate here twice. The first meal was lovely I had the lamb and my husband had the beef and they were both very good. The second time we both had the fish and chips and this wasn't so good as the fish was overcooked...and very greasy but the chips were nice. The view from the restaurant is lovely.More
