About
We are a family run restaurant and coffee shop that offers local produce as well as products made here on the farm; such as cheeses, skyr, icecream and our own beef. We buy all fresh local vegetables from the county and make our foods from scratch, using traditional Icelandic styles with a modern twist. We are located along the Golden Circle route 37, so if you are travelling in the area, please feel free to stop by for some ice cream or for something to eat. We are a walk in only restaurant, so no need to book unless you have a large group The Efstidalur Family

Really good steak and lamb chops upstairs with gelato downstairs! Upstairs we ordered on the right side bar and sat in the dining room on the left. The salted caramel and amaretto gelatos were some of the best things I tasted in Iceland. Many flavors...More

If you are doing the Golden Circle, you should definitely stop by here. You can see the cows and the dogs. And you can read about the history about this family. The best part is the food. The lamb chop is so delicious if you...More

We were advised to go here by the people at our hotel as it's a place where all the locals go when they want a good meal. It wasn't all locals in the restaurant but everything we tasted from the beef tartare and smoked salmon...More

The food was good and the ice cream was delicious! I was a little sad looking at all the cows though! But there were horses that came right up to the fence and a bunch of friendly barn dogs. It was a cozy restaurant with...More

On the LONG Golden Circle tour, we stopped at Efstidalur for a break. We are thrilled we did. We were able to watch them work behind the scenes, check out the beautiful cows and calves, and taste the creamiest and most flavorful ice cream. We...More

My husband and I came here after the Fontana hot spring as referred by the tour guide for "the cave people" tour (which I suggest by the way if you're in the area, you can just pop in for a tour) we were fortunate to...More

We only stopped for ice cream... yes, on a cold December day... and it was one of the highlights of my trip! Such a cute, friendly location, and of course, the ice cream was fantastic.

Good luck to the current generation of farmers for promoting themselves and their produce. We only stopped for Skyr and ice cream but the whole set up looked good. Nicely located for the Golden Circle and Geysir I could see the attraction of a return...More
