We had a lovely time at this Hanko staple. Beautiful, cool cellar space lit with candles was lovely after a hot day, and took us to a time before. Service was excellent, friendly and precise - something that can happen only when one really wants...to create an experience where all the details work.
Our party had snails as starters, then salmon soup, delicious bread, a lovely steak and excellent lamb as mains. Everything was cooked to precision, never had a more optimal medium plus order to happen with meat. Food was seasoned wonderfully and showed pride towards the food they offer, staff was attentive and always there should we want to have a glass filled. For a fine-dining place it is rare to offer something to children, and even that target group was catered to wonderfully with several options.
Can’t wait to go back to their classic skärgårdsbord - a table filled with wonderful Finnish fish delicacies.More
Food was okay but service was very poor. The head waiter was rood and arrogant from start to finish. Not something you would expect from a restaurant which is supposed to be one of the best in Hanko - also regarding the prices. Would not...recommend!More
We had an ok dinner, this is a nice place by the sea. I was, however, expecting a bit more from the seafood table (have had much better for example in Reposaari) plus the menu was quite limited and quite highly priced taking into account...the food quality. Hanko menu was nothing too spectacular either. The tables were placed side by side so no covid restrictions in table placing taken into account. The waiter forgot to bring the dessert I ordered, so the service was not top notch. The waiter also greeted us by the door straight by "do you have a reservation" so no intro by anything as simple as a welcome... You pay mostly for location here, this is no 4 or 5 star restaurant. Ok, but not fabulous.More
We went off-season, and came back during our weekend getaway as it was so nice! Firstly the atmosphere with all the candles is wonderful. Prices are quite reasonable, and they have a great Hungarian red on the wine list. During our first visit we had...the shrimp, venison and cranberry dessert. Everything was good, maybe some uneven cooking on the venison (smaller filets a bit over) but it was still delicious and the pieces that were well cooked, were perfect. We came back for lunch to have salmon soup and seared elk, both delicious. Service was fast, sometimes too fast.More
We had dinner in Origo and it was a big disappointment. We were two adults and a child. When my husband and child got their food, the waitress asked me didn't I order anything! Well, yes I did but they forgot it. They promised it...to come in six minutes but finally it took 15 minutes and the others had already eaten their food. And the food was not even good, way below average. The first waitress we had was really nice but the other was rude and didn't even apologize the delay of my food. She was also coughing all the time without keeping anything in front of her mouth. Quite annoying, especially during this corona epidemia. We will not return to this place.More
Second visit after a long time. I went with my family for dinner, unfortunately the terrace was full sure to the great weather, so we eat inside, also very nice interior but not as summery. Everything we ordered was really good, starters, mains and desserts....It was very nice to see nice options for kids, which many of this kind of restaurants prefer to skip. My son really enjoy his dinner. Service was impeccable, and overall feeling is that price quality ratio is very good. Highly recommended!More
I had a deer burger for lunch. The serving was fast but the meal was quite bland. Just the burger and some tastless fries and a little ketchup. The burger, ordered as medium, was burned to crisp from the surface and completely rare in the...middle. This must be the worst ~20e burger I've ever had. Prices ar lunch time are way above avarage, while the quality of food was horrible. Finnish customers may also be surprised that commonly used lunch cards are not accepted as a means of payment.More
The location is nice itself, especially when sun shines and light breeze blows to your face:). Portions are quite small and it’s a bit more expensive than the usual restaurant prices. Staff is lovely and really worth of visiting during the Hanko stay.
