Nick’s BBQ and Catfish-Carlisle, AR-3.5 stars. expansive roadhouse style joint with exposed wood walls adorned with tv’s and autographed photos of famous folks. Not real busy on arrival but steadily became fuller as we dined. Menu included numerous bbq offerings-pork ribs, sausage (Kielbasa), dark meat...chicken. Interestingly the pork and beef were offered in multiple versions. Sliced, chopped, or pulled. Along with the fried catfish menu items, there is shrimp available. Plus burgers and sandwiches. DW decided she was more interested in a lighter meal here, going with the sausage sandwich basket. Side choice was coleslaw but also added some homemade potato salad. This disappointing sausage sandwich was light on sausage but heavy on BBQ sauce. Half a link, butterflied and grilled. Sauce and the meat and nothing else on the bun. The verdict- “tastes like a sloppy joe minus the meat”. Substandard coleslaw for sure. My catfish and rib platter was a much stronger choice. It came with several fillets, 3 smallish bones, with potato salad and onion rings as the sides. Catfish cooked as appropriate. Flakey and not overly breaded (corn meal?). Really enjoyed these. The ribs were the star of the meal - hickory smoked, tender and the sweet vinegar BBQ was a nice complement. May have been lucky to get a very fresh rack. The onion rings tasty but breading disintegrated. Although they said the potato salad was homemade it bore a striking resemblance to boxed salad. Mustard based but the predominant flavor was pickle. Huge surprise was the outstanding homemade banana pudding. Light and fluffy like a mousse with great flavor and still crisp vanilla wafers on the bottom. One of the best I've ever had! Don't skip it if you like it. We also purchased a brownie and a slice of pecan pie to go. Look forward to trying those. A note on service-our server was very good. Answered questions with detail and humor. Liked her very much. You can get a good meal here for sure but our experience was very hit and miss.More

The food was horrible, The pulled pork was tough and dried out. The order was to-go, which we have ordered to go before, and was not correct and was cold. One order had a little bitty container or coleslaw (which was not ordered) and the...other order had a much larger order of coleslaw. The fried okra was put with the fish and was suppose to be for the pulled pork order. We have ate there many, many times and was very disappointing.More

What a find! After a day of travel, this hit the spot. We can recommend the brisket and catfish, the turnip greens and fried okra. I am particular about coleslaw but this creamy coleslaw met my expectations. We saved enough room to split a piece...of pecan pie- delicious. The service was a bit slow but it was a Sunday night. Nick's is very reasonably priced and serves generous portions of barbecue, fried catfish, and southern favorites. The small catfish dinner (under $15) came with three fried catfish filets and two sides. I was too full for a fried pie after all of that, but will...be back to sample their barbecue and desserts!More

I saw where this was voted the best bbq in Arkansas the day after I ate there . They got it right ! The brisket and ribs, baked beans ,fried okra and coconut pie was fabulous. Presleigh was my waitress. Great job as always!More

A delicious meal in a fun atmosphere. BBQ was top notch. Sauce was a mustard type base and delicious flavor! Parking was very easy for our camper and tow vehicle as they have an oversized parking lot next to the main parking lot. Very easy...access right off the highway!More

The service was slow. The bbq sauce was like water and made the meal taste funny. We didn't finish out meal. I ordered the hot chocolate pie and I'm still looking for the chocolate. The server was nice.More

Good service. Okay food. The catfish was very good and so were the baked beans. The pulled pork and ribs were just okay. This was not a quick stop for us. We had to wait a bit to be seated and then our food took...some time to prepare. So, if you're looking to eat fast and then hop back on the interstate, this is not your best option.More

We visited Sept. 23 for an early dinner as we passed through on a trip. The catfish was delicious and all the staff very courteous. We're headed back to Texas today and plan to stop for lunch. Very good food!More
