Superb dinner, great service as usual

So here we are in a quarantine period, and our weekly dine out has to be postponed because nothing is open. WRONG!! River City is open for take out only, and they came up with a superb deal. They are offering a 'platter' dinner that feeds several people. We had the blackened salmon on a bed of rice, with veggies, black beans, salad, and bread. It's everything you would get in the sit-down environment. The only downside is that we had to eat it at home, and the ambiance there was just not the same. By the way, the price was considerably less than the cost of a dine-in, but they tell me that they are swamped and the staff is still working. Kudos to the owner and the staff for offering this alternative idea to keep staff working and putting food out the door. The platter itself was perfectly prepared as usual and really solidified our belief that this is still the absolute best dining experience in Yuma. We'll probably do it again next week.

Great food, ambience and service

My first time to Yuma and I found this gem. A quaint place with nice outdoor seating. Food was quite good. I highly recommend the halibut. the veggies were cooked perfectly and the fish was moist and flavorful. The wsit staff was very attentive and made me feel comfortable as a solo diner

This was our 1st visit. We went because of recommendations from friends. A very busy restaurant but they say hello when you arrive. They seat you immediately and offer you water and fresh bread and then ask if you would like a drink. We then ordered appetizers, the scallops with puff pastry were delicious. Our entrees were fabulous. I had the pesto pasta with 7 shrimp and it was so good, the balanceof pestowas perfect., My husband had the scallops, prawns and lobster ravioli and said it was delicious. Our friends had the pecan crusted halibut and just loved it. The portions are generous and delicious. Our entrees had fresh carrots, zucchini, peppers and tomatoes in them. Delicious and we will go again.

When you pay for a meal, you want it to be a meal worth going back. I am Vegan, but my husband is not. This restaurant has some choices for myself...or should I say "can change entrees" to make it Vegan. However, if tho I chose one marked 'Vegan'. It was okay...not worth returning for. I am a picky eater. If I eat out, I want it to be great. If it's not, I just won't return. Average would be my vote.

Food and service is amazing

There were three of us in our party. We ordered coconut curry chicken, fettuccini alfredo, and apricot salmon. Meals came with a very nice salad. We tried spinach salad and Mediterranean salad. They were both really good with just the right amount of very tasty dressing and very fresh greens. The entrees all came with veggies that were fresh and cooked perfectly. I ate the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and served on a rice cake and with green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. All of the food was presented beautifully. The server came to check on us often without being intrusive. We had a reservation and they had saved a table for us and had it ready when we arrived 2 minutes early. The restaurant is small and I would recommend reservations. While I am not sure the diners are exactly 6 feet apart, we weren't close to other diners - it's not crowded. I highly recommend the restaurant.

Flies, hair in food, dead flowers = manager had a bad day.

We were there for lunch. Dead flowers on the table and flies flying all around as we ordered lunch. After our complaints about flies they started trying to swat them. It didn't help. Eventually we found one in our soup.i even killed one as I took my wine glass to drink it. That's how bad it was. They apologized. We had ordered an another soup with our $35 steak and as the waitress approached our table she pulled out a long hair and went back to the kitchen. She returned with a new bowl stating that this one was a new bowl and asked if we wanted to confirm this by looking in the kitchen to see the old bowl with hair in it. We got our expensive steaks and the potatoes were so cold and watered down i thought it was a joke. Yes, things can happen. I get it. But the manager sat at the bar next to us and heard this whole thing. When the bill was presented I asked if she really thought we had to pay. She said" so you are leaving without paying?" I said no but what about customer service and the lack of sanitation and the reviews that could possibly become of our experience. She disappeared and came back with a gift certificate. What??? Do you think we will dare to come back? We left them on the table. She said...you have to understand that we have had a bad day. That's not my problem!! Never again. If she would have handled this different I would have never written this review. But now I have because I feel that her bad day transfered to me having a bad day.and i paid for it!!

Huge Disappointment

Friday night, 7 of us for a birthday supper. 6 of us who ordered steak were very unhappy. The whole meal arrived cold. The bread was very good. We sent it all back, the owner discounted the bill by 50% and offered free desert. I was the only one that took that offer. It was a very busy, evening so the chefs fault, servers fault will never know. May give it another chance sometime.

Really like this restaurant but steak overcooked twice

We ate here pre Covid and really enjoyed our meal. We decided to go in for Father's Day as we were traveling thru Yuma on business. Server was very good and attentive. The Caesar salad was excellent and the bruschetta but I ordered medium rare and the steak came out nearly well done. I sent it back and it came out the same a second time. Moral of the story ask your server to wait before leaving to be sure the steak is what it should be. My husband went ahead and ate his nearly well done and just said we won't be back. It is a shame. Any chef that works in a place like this needs to recognize medium rare.

Lovely dinner find between San Diego and Phoenix

We enjoyed our al fresco dinner under the lights at River City Grill. Our server, Amy was lovely; friendly and knowledgeable. From the epi bread service, to the excellent tomato bisque, and then the well favored/presented entrees, we were not disappointed. An added bonus was a well rounded wine list. So good that we made our dinner reservation before we left for next month when we will be through Yuma again

Wow - delicious steak!

Went here for a business dinner. I had a special of the night, Beef Wellington - fantastic! Very thin crust on it, cooked medium-rare - so tender and flavorful. Nice ambiance and good service. I will be back next time I'm in Yuma!

Neighborhood Delight

We decided to visit here for lunch while in the Yuma area. The ambiance was lovely, there were cloth napkins and you were given fresh bread with oil and balsamic vinegar while you waited for your meal. I had a bowl of the soup of the day. It was a very generous portion. My wife had the Asian salad and our daughter, the Chicken Caesar wrap. We really enjoyed our meal.

Don’t waste your money here!

Terrible in every way!!! We had a reservation for 7 but they set and seated us in a table for 4, then bread was served and the waitress said “we’re out of butter” and have been for days. We ordered and finally our salads came at the same time our entrees were delivered to the table. The problem was one entree was lost! After asking twice where the beef filet was and never receiving it all others at the table were finished eating! One entree that was received was supposed to be a rib eye steak but it was a round steak. (For the price of a rib eye!) Coffee was ordered 3 times and never received! I could go on, but I’ve made my point. All that and food was mediocre.

We made reservations for my Birthday on March 6th. We were greeted upon walking in with a genuine smile. We sat outside on the patio. We were greeted by the water and bread servers. Our server was absent for about 15 to 20 minutes. We were very patient because my husband did not ot want to get me upset on my Bday. I flagged down the hostess to see if we were forgotten. Didn't know our server had a 10 top that was having issues when their dinner was served. I can understand but the manager should have been walking around to make sure everyone was okay. A server came over to see if he could start us with a cocktail. We ordered a bottle of wine that was brought right over. Our server was very apologetic. The ribeye came out perfectly cooked but the mash potatoes were luke warm. The steak had a great seasoning and a wonderful flavor. The blue cheese butter was a nice addition. The Osso Bucco was a little on the dry side not a fall off the bone. It did have a good flavor and great presentation. The mash potatoes on this plate were hot.

Second Visit did not Disappoint.

Sometimes when you revisit a restaurant, it doesn’t quite match what you remember. We were here two years ago and raved about it. Since we were in Yuma again, we had to go back and I can rave again. Great menu, attentive service and, for New Englanders, the opportunity to sit outside in January is almost surreal. This place is wonderful.

Glad to revisit, better than ever

Haven't been for a year. Sorry I waited. Food was very good. Wide selection with fresh ingredients. I had vegan vegetables with curry. Veggies we just right, sauce was too thick (like mayo rather than curry, in texture). Flavor good though. Caesar salad had beautiful greens. A bit over dressed and could have used some lemon. Croutons were well seasoned. Another person had Ahi, which was beautiful, third had cod, which was in raisin sauce. Of the 5 of us, all agreed cod seemed best. Will go back again to try more.
