My husband and I stopped by here while driving through Winslow because it looked local and it was busy. Mostly locals dining, food was really good, service was also good and the complimentary chips and salsa were hot/spicy but delicious. Don't let looks deceive you...good local "hole in the wall" with good, tasty food. Recommend :)

Don't let the appearance fool you if you want a good authentic Mexican lunch this is a great place. A great special was offered with 1 taco, 1 burrito, and a tamale. Definitely worth the stop.

Two of us went for dinner and ordered tacos and enchiladas. They were quite tasty. What surprised us were the rice and beans. Normally I would barely touch them but these were really good. The place is quite plain, no ambiance at all, so if you are in town looking for just good food, this is worth a stop.

This place was recommended by our hotel as a good local place to eat. I had a taco salad; huge and very good. My husband had the shredded beef enchiladas; they were excellent. Also the chips and salsa were super good; salsa was hot, just like we like it. The meal comes with an order of sopapillas; the best, but... More

I almost forgot about the huevos rancheros, chips and salsa, good service, etc...I could go back just for the sopapillas only! The huevos were perfect, rice and beans also yum. When the honey and basket of sopapillas arrived at the table, I thought oh that's too much. We all had good size plates of food, once we started in it... More

Had dinner here. Prices were reasonable, food taste was reasonable, food presentation was quite nice, portions were more than 1 person should eat, service was excellent. Definitely a local favourite.

Good local place to eat and have a drink. The red combination plate is a nice option. Worth the stop to get when passing by.

My dad and I were road tripping around Arizona, and we pulled into Winslow for a much needed break. We saw the Mug Cafe, decided to check it out. I'm glad we did! Very affordable food, nice attentive wait staff and yummy meals. My dad had a burger with fries, I had the green sauce enchilada and honestly, everything was... More

Reviews during 2016 camping trip The Brown Mug, an unlikely name for a (mostly) Mexican cafe, is one of those thoroughly unpretentious eateries, frequented nearly exclusively by locals, that serves up fairly priced and consistently pretty darn good Mexican food along with generous pours of boxed wine for $4 per glass. The Navajo Taco, particularly with the added (ground) chicken... More

I was staying at La Posada Hotel -- a great place! -- and had a margarita at the bar. With tip that was something like $13. I decided to economize and went across the street to this establishment. For about one dollar more than that, plus tip, I had chips and salsa, an excellent hot bowl of green chile, and... More
