This class was so much fun. We made authentic Guatemala recipes with fresh local ingredients. The meal was delicious but the experience working with Alfredo was even better! Alfredo was kind and patient as he walked us through the process. I would definitely recommend this...class to anyone visiting lake Atitlan. Also worth noting is that this class is part of the school where local residents are taught trades to help advance their skills. There is a small market attached to this school that sells wonderful pieces made by its graduates. This is a terrific way to support the local community. Even if you don’t take a class, stop by to check out the store.More

A very nice place to have a good meal in Santa Cruz de la Laguna with a great view of the town and lago Atitlan below. We tried their wrap cruceño and it was delicious. Their service was good but quite slow

Having read the glowing reviews I wanted to experience this place for myself. Location: The main attraction here is the view, which is breathtaking. The tuk tuk let me off at the CECAP building, which is in the upper village, near the public square. CECAP...is a vocational school that trains locals in handicrafts and culinary arts. To get to the restaurant, you have to enter the CECAP offices, pass a handicrafts exhibit, and climb stairs to the second level. The confusing part here is that there are actually two restaurants in the same building, so make sure you use the right-side entrance that takes you into the CECAP offices. The second-floor restaurant's outside terrace has a jaw dropping 180 degree view of the Lake and volcanoes. It feels like you are sitting on top of a cloud. Menu: The menu features sandwiches, salads, and "platos fuertes", which means main dishes, as well as smoothies. Since the restaurant calls itself the "Santa Cruz Taste", I was expecting some unique dishes, but mostly these are the same items offered by any other local restaurant. I arrived precisely at 12 noon, however the waiter informed me that there were no more sandwiches, salads, or soups available, only main dishes. I decided to try a main dish consisting of two types of meat, chicken and beef, vegetables, and a slightly spicy sauce. I also ordered a banana cacao smoothie. The smoothie was large and very delicious. I was expecting the main dish to be a real taste sensation, but the meat was overcooked and almost tasteless, the sauce was bland, and overall the dish was rather disappointing. Next time I will order a sandwich or a salad. Prices: The prices were very reasonable. My entire meal consisting of a generous main course with meat and a smoothie cost me less than US$10. Taking into account the incredible view and the fact that Santa Cruz doesn't have many other eateries, I would recommend this place if you want a decent meal while in Santa Cruz.More

We took a cooking claas with Alfredo and Margharethe. Alfredo taught us three guatemalan dishes. Starter, main course and dessert. And every dish was just the best food we had on our trip. :) The best is, they do it for their local community, to...help each other out. So tiox ohawa. ;)More

It’s a hard hike up the hill to this place though tuk tuks are plentifully plying their trade. It’s a breakfast, brunch and lunch place but great for a pit stop if stopping by at Santa Cruz on a meander by lancha around the lake....Service was charming. Two smiley, young people very keen to use their English. Really nice juices and smoothies. My travelling companion said his chicken sandwich was one of the best in his life. A definite ‘visit’.More

Fantastic service, our waitress was lovely and spoke great English too if your Spanish is a bit patchy. Food was amazing and you cannot beat the view - would really recommend a visit here. There is also a safe ATM on the floor below if...you need more cash. You can pay with card for the restaurant though!More

The views here are some of the best we’ve seen in lake Atitlan. We have the balam, coffees and carrot cake which were all amazing. We also spent some time perusing the shop downstairs and buying souvenirs. A credit to the people of Santa Cruz...and a great way to support the community!More

This was a fun and educational experience. Claudia, our chef was extensive in explaining the foods we made and their history. Cooking with her was fun. Her English is excellent, she shared much about Mayan culture and life in Santa Cruz.
