This restaurant is located in the ASU campus area and offers great Thai dishes at reasonable prices. The portions are quite generous too. Service is quick and courteous. The restaurant ambiance is overall nice and inviting.
Okay, so those of you that are reading the reviews about the food not being spicy, I have a tip for you. They have the spicy stuff available so you can customize to the perfect level of spice for you. Simple as that! I love...the red curry with chicken. I typically order it for take out because my husband hates Thai food, so he gets something different and I get my Thai. I just order it medium spicy and add on the spice from there. I have eaten Thai all over the US and the red curry (which is my go-to) is as good here as anywhere I have been. I travel for work, so you know I have been to plenty of places! Also, if you want beer and wine, just head over to Taste of Tops, grab a table, grab a beer/wine, and order your Thai food from there. The restuarant will run it right over. Done and DONE! Enjoy :)More
We really like Thai food, so we have high expectations. This is a little store front type restaurant which could use some more ambiance. That being said, everything else was wonderful! I had the best Massaman curry dish I have ever had. Hubby liked his sweet...and sour pork. Good service. Many enticing options on the menu, so we will be back!More
The thai basil plate was amazing and everything you u would expect to get out of a signature dish. Quick service, excellent made to order dish (order the medium), loved.
What was really a nice suprise was the chia mango desert. Its refreshing but keeps...you guessing as the flavors kick in. Really a great ending to the meal.More
Appreciated it’s one of the few places open on Christmas.
What I did not appreciate:
1. It took longer than necessary just to get water
2. I ordered a lemonade, she never asked me if I wanted another one (I did) she just grabbed the...empty glass and walked off
3. I was asked how spicy, was it even spicy when I got it? No! Rather very sweet.
4. We could NOT eat the food, we tried... it’s possibly the worst Thai food we have had in recent memory if not ever.
5. Our waitress acted like she was forced to wait on us 🙄
6. The 2 stars is for the appetizer, that was decent.
All in all it was a ho hun experience... I just wish it didn’t happen today. Ah well, you live and you learn.More
Went twice in the course of my visit to Phoenix area, and was very happy with both experiences. My worst fear with Thai and Indian restaurants is that I will emerge much lighter in the wallet and emerge still hungry; one need not worry about...that at Thai Basil. My tofu with basil ("Signature Dish") and garlicky tofu sweet and sour were each $10.95, most reasonable; and portions were uncommonly generous. The sweet and sour even had a little spice to it (waitress even asked how spicy I wanted it--rarely if ever asked that on this dish). Lots of healthy vegetables, including chunks of fresh tomatoes. The picture tells the story. Food came very quickly and was temperature hot. Restaurant deserves its accolades.More
Excellent Thai restaurant !I went there 2 times in one week just because the food was that good! First time I went with friends , second time I ordered to go .
We ordered from the Special Menu , and the order was gigantic, you...can eat 2 days from it! My choice was Wonton Soup and Basil Lamb! Initially, I though the lamb would be like a steak. It was actually grounded and mixed with many vegetables. The waiter asked us how spicy we wanted the meal , from a scale from 0 to 10 I believe. I chose 0 since I like no spice , my boyfriend asked 2 and was not that spicy either , just very mild . If you want to order some beer or wine , they don’t serve alcohol. They have soda and teas only. That place has lot of traffic, not completely full, but at least half both time I went there . Great location and amazing food!More
