We discovered this place by accident and since we were craving sweets decided to give it a try. Others on T/A had highly raved about the macaroons. We of course bought some and they are fantastic. We bought some of the other pastries to take back to our hotel and they were also delicious. Pastries were flaky and not over... More

Being from out of town I was following my app to Starbucks when I spotted Essence across the parking lot. Gave it a try and what a gem. I had the organic egg sandwich which is served with Dubliner cheese on toasted Brioche with tomato. Quite possibly the best I've ever had. Drip coffee was good, too. Espresso drinks also... More

I have travelled to Paris so many times, I don't have a count. Last year alone I spent four months there and one of the things I love about Paris is of course the food.I am particular too. I respect the Michelin system, but that's not necessarily where I go or what I crave. The head chef at ESSENCE trained... More

Every time we visit Tempe, it is a family must stop, to purchase heavenly macaroons. They are fantastic. We have also have had sandwiches there, and the food is fresh and delicious.

The macaroons here are to die for, as you can imagine. I've never had anything but a delicious pastry from Essence. That being said, the service is sometimes lacking so be prepared to seem like you're an annoyance. Either way, it's worth it for a little bit of deliciousness!

Busy place, and its easy to understand why. Some of the best croissants I have ever tasted, my wife loved the Brioache Toast.

When you go see Jesse to try the largest and most exquisite macarons in the valley, tell them Joe the guy with the Fedora sent you. Far better than what you will receive at the Ritzy Quarters in North Scottsdale's Kierland's Commons. Chewy, not fluffy, of substance which is what I found in the hoity toity place. This happens because... More

Very good food but very small portions and its a little expensive. I ordered the egg sandwich and it was good but like it said they have small portions.

Have to say we thought the prices were bit too high. We both ordered the Classic Egg Sandwich w/bacon no tomato that's all you got for $7.00 no fruit no anything. (Sides could be ordered) It was good but we won't be going back to eat breakfast. I'd stop in for a baked good....... sorry can't say it's worth 4... More

The pastries were very good, but they expensive. Over $2.00 for a single macaron. The croissant was buttery and flakey, one of the best I've had outside of actually going to France. The cafe is very small and not very pretty to look at, but the food is definitely worth the trip
