Atmosphere and general layout of place great, my food was very average, ordered chicken Schnitzel (see pic) . As you can see compared to small glass next to plate I thought I had been served two chicken nuggets when it turned up. Even the Crumbed...coating was moist and fell off. Food on other plates looked good so maybe I ordered the wrong dish however this is probably the easiest thing to cook on their menu for any level of chef.More
This is very hard to write. Why? because I had the most delicious salad - a really great satay seared beef salad. Previously I remember a really great caesar salad too. However, whilst I made a great choice, if I had to have an alternative...to what I chose, the lunch and dinner menus are the VERY SAME. So, at lunchtime, you have a choice mainly of heavy, costly meals, which most NZ's (not ALL) have at dinner time. There are really no 'light meals' apart from salads. My wife chose to have scallops with an additional side salad, which she really enjoyed. Whilst for many people that would be too light, but she very much enjoyed it and was happy. However, I am rating "average" because of no 'light meal' options, which is pretty standard today.More
Duncan Mc was our waiter and he made our night! Great people skills, friendly, always joking and efficient. A great Kiwi ambassador! My Kiwi Burger topped it off to make a great night. 10/10 Duncan!
I am not sure this place want to be pub or something eles. Meal price is definitely middle class restaurant price, but meals itself were too small. We ordered 250g steak $30 but meat was thin and small, and seasonable vege was one small piece...of green leaf only. It was very sad dinner. Calamaris were also so small and too expensive. We live near the place, but we never back this place.More
However don’t you think the staff should tell you that there’s a wait of over an hour for your food At time of writing this still waiting and feeling forgotten
Food bland, definately pub food, staff still the same, unfriendly, unprofessional, and out right rude......needs a major overhaul in food and customer service.
Nice to go to a restuarant with good tried and tested recipes modernised but still the classic taste. Great service on a Wednesday night!
Definitely not homely, was in there Easter Sunday and experienced worst bar service I have in Auckland. You have a female manager with glasses who was the supervisor last night, very unfriendly, and bordering on being arrogant and everything was an effort, felt like you...had to finish your drink and meal so she could go home, like this every night with her. Unprofessional and not "homely" as you make out to be. Food very mediocre as well. Below par. Disappointed, if you want to be homely - do something about the Sunday night female supervisor with glasses.More
Dropped in for pre drinks on Saturday. Have a good selection of beers with friendly helpful staff. Had a good time sitting inside this interesting pub. Returned for lunch on Sunday and sat at the front undercover section watching all the coming and goings. It...was so nice we stayed on until about 430pm. Very relaxing indeed. Highly recommended for not only a cold drink but also some good pub food.More
Great service, top notch waitress who knew our orders, didn't muck anything up for the 14 people. Food was delicous and well priced.
