I will rate the food here excellent, but was so disturbed by the waitress going ‘political’ on us. Very uncomfortable....she should leave her comments at home...not at work...older gal with mis-informed beliefs.....ruined my dinner. Couldn’t wait to get out... it was all I could do...not to respond.More

Second time stopping here, believe the waitress when she states the cook over cooks his meats so go a notch below what you usually order my burger came out super crispy. Still delicious though.

Our first time visiting for my wife and I in the Sonoita/Elgin area and we heard and read much about how GREAT this local place was; so we made a 5:30 pm reservation, and were very much looking forward to an enjoyable meal! Long story...short, just the "lowlights": we weren't seated til 6; the waitress was completely scatterbrained, not seeming to know what was available and what wasn't from the evenings menu; when the meals were brought to us, my wife's chicken was dry and unappetizing and MINE was the wrong one altogether! I had ordered a Sonoita strip prepared medium rare with baked potato and received a filet mignon cooked well done with fries! The waitress took it back and returned with my ACTUAL order which was (again) way overcooked, not to mention tough as an old shoe. Btw: the Sonoita strip is supposedly their second best cut after the filet. On the plus side, the draft beers were fine and the atmosphere was perfect. The server did take 15% off of our bill but we would have preferred to have had a terrific dinner.More

Six of us went for dinner and had prime rib, filet mignons and ribeye steaks. All were cooked to perfection, were extremely tender and fantastic flavors. We were able to get truly rare prime rib, the filets and ribeyes were well seared and red in...the centers, just like we wanted. Meals came with salad and choice of sides. Service, even in this Covid era, was superb and the staff could not have been more friendly or efficient.More

Not a lot of options in Sonoita, but the Steak Out is the best!!! Well prepared food. I had the ribs, my wife, steak. Both were cooked to perfection. Service was great. We stopped at the bar for a drink before heading out. Bartender was...friendly. Interior was rustic and fun. Interesting history. Recommend this to anyone traveling there.More

My father and family have been going to the Steak Out since the 70’s. So on a family trip out to Sonoita for his 60th birthday, we had a large group of 13 people. We were able to make a reservation and the table was...ready for us when we arrived. Staff was very friendly and the band sang happy birthday to our dad and the chef as well! (Can’t believe they share a birthday) The grill is completely custom and they’re happy to explain it and let you have a closer look; it’s fascinating! Everyone was so happy with their dinner and allll the drinks we had (wine, margaritas, and basic cocktails). Great night celebrating and of course we went back for dinner later that week.More

If you're looking for a Western steak dinner with no frills, this is the place. Was hoping to have dinner and dance afterwards, but the music was good while dining, but not for dancing.

Arrived at 12:20pm for lunch. Seated and orders taken by 12:30. Only one other table with customers when we arrived. 45 minutes later we finally got our food which consisted of 2 French Dip sandwiches (special of the day so you would expect fast service)...and a BBQ chicken salad. Food was good but a wait that long is unacceptable.More

Rude service sat there 15 minutes and no one asked for drinks or if we’d like to order. Guest after us were helped. Guess we were the wrong demographic? Don’t know my moneys good.

To start out the evening our waitress was very rude from the get go. I had the Filet Mignon and my husband had the Ribeye. We both thought or steaks was good but not the best we have ever had. We had friends with us,...they ordered mushrooms with their steaks, never got them, never got a refill on our drinks, the waitress gave us our food and never came back to check on us, the only time we saw her again was to drop off the check. She was not happy about removing the mushrooms from the bill. It is a little pricey for the food, but worth meeting friends, if you are meeting up in the middle to say hi, I would say, if we were to go back and I got the same waitress, I would ask for a different sever or walk out.More

I can't tell if this is a "price question" or a question about a specific order. Whatever, I have been eating at the Steak Out for many year and it is where I go for the "best" steak. This is what they specialize in and... More
