Our family of six visited here after a short hike. We have been to Oaxaca, Mexico and were happy to give this restaurant a try. The staff was very welcoming and professional, always a good thing. Our family varies in age from 10 to 70s. Not everyone is familiar with Mexican food, but all found something to their liking. Some of us love Mexican food, so we enjoyed the Grilled Arizona Cactus (prickly pear) appetizer. The sear marks were especially tasty. i ordered the chicken posole which had a deep flavor to it with a little heat. Others ordered southwest chili, quesadillas, chimichanga, and Oaxacan Mini Sampler. The total bill including drinks, tax, and 18% gratuity was $155.

We took a day trip to Sedona because our friend recommended it, along with this restaurant. We were seated right by windows so you could see the mountains, which was a spectacular view. They may have been a little short staffed on servers, because it easily took 20 minutes just to get our beverage order placed. By then, we already had two bowls of chips/salsa gone. We ordered our main courses, but our server forgot the specifics like adding guac, sour cream, and bringing another bowl of chips/salsa, all of which were ordered at the same time as the main course. The food was really good and the servings were HUGE.

**Due to COVID 19 precautions, your temperature is taken before they sit you down** $64.31 for four meals. A little pricey for sure. Located at the heart of Uptown Sedona, this Mexican place is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and a multitude of people. They do have a deck which provides a great view of the red rock filled horizon. Just be aware, no aguas frescas.. (sigh)... that means no horchata, Jamaica (hibiscus tea), or tamarando. A little disappointed but not a deterrent. No jarritos either 😔. I ordered the Enchilada platter with Adobo pork. You have the option of chicken, shredded beef, and steak. The meal comes with refried beans and rice. Portions are not very big. So if you were planning on taking left overs home. It is not going to happen. The Red Rock Enchilada is a single big enchilada accompanied with beans and rice as well. If you order the enchiladas, ask for a side of sour cream if that's how you like them. Now the enchilada sauce itself it's ok. Nothing to boast about, I highly doubt it was a home made sauce. In conclusion: if you have a real taste for real Mexican food, because you have been eating it your whole life then I don't recommend it. If you don't, then you are going to like it and I recommended. Follow me and my adventures fb: Sin Aguayo ig: @SinAguayo

Were sorry , but our food seemed to have been either pre prepared or sat under a heat light in the window or way over done. it was all hard and dry and had that funny crust on the top. Our waitress knew we did not like our food because she kept asking but with that face that said " I Know " so we took a few bites and paid our ridiculous 50 dollar bill and left . Definitely a tourist one time eat . I promise no locals would ever say ."Lets eat here" and when we got back to our room and said we ate there. The owners of our house said - You should of asked us first -Ugh . Live and Learn

Stopped in for a late lunch (3:30pm) with a group of friends during the week. There was a short wait to get a table because we wanted to sit on the outside deck for the view. Only a handful of inside tables had customers at them. We asked where the bar was so that we could get a drink while waiting. We were told that the bartender was too busy to make our drinks and that we would have to wait until seated at our table. Ummm, really! If it were up to me, I would have turned around and left but instead we stayed and got a table with the view. Margaritas were just ok. They tasted liked they were made with a pre-made sweet and soup mix rather than the fresh ingredients listed on the menu. The salsa served with chips tasted like canned tomato sauce with some cilantro and onion in it. A few of us got the fish tacos that had absolutely no seasoning on the fish and after the first bite, I had to spit it out. The fish had a very funky taste and there was no way I was going to eat it. Two of us sent our meals back and chose not to eat anything else. One gal had the Oaxaca burro and apparently they serve it cold. She had to ask them to heat it up. Our waiter was very nice and understanding. He wanted to pay for our drinks and take our tacos off the bill. We insisted on at least paying for our drinks though. He did bring a nice dessert out to make things better. We were told that they have a new cook and bartender. Maybe before the pandemic this was a great place to eat. Unfortunately, I have no desire to even come back. The view was the only thing I enjoyed.

Had lunch here. Blue Moon Margarita was amazing. Salsa that came out with the chips was different than what we are used to but good. Ordered shrimp tacos and chicken nachos. Good portions and tasty. Nachos were enough for at least 2 people. Shrimp tacos were good. Our server was very attentive, making sure we liked the food and had enough refills. It was more than we usually spend for lunch but it was worth it compared to another place we ate where the food was awful.

My son and I came here last year and had a nice meal so decided to go back this year. Big mistake. First we asked for a window table the lady wrote it down and said it will be 30 minutes. Ok no problem we walked around town for 30 minutes and came back. We introduced ourselves again and said we are on the list for a window table. She said 30 more minutes. I said never mind just seat us anywhere. My son ordered the 2 tacos and I ordered a burrito. When it came out my son tried his first and after a few bites he said he was full. I know this kid, thats code for I don't like it. Anyway I said ok and tried mine I ate half because I was starving, but it wasn't good. The pork was dried out and old looking. Not good. Sorry but we won't come back again.

We were not expecting much, as this restaurant is in the heart of the tourist center. We were pleasantly surprised - very good food served with a smile at a reasonable price considering the area. Karla, our waitress, did an excellent job.

I grew up in Phoenix and this restaurant has been here as long as I can remember! Finally got to go here and now know why it's been around so long. We sat outside and a feeat view of Snoopy Rock. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty and my niece enjoyed her picky pear margarita. Huge portions of food were served! My shredded beef taco salad was loaded with tasty meat and the shell was both crispy and tender. My sister in law loved her fish tacos and my niece brought home a lot of her huge Christmas style vegetarian burrito. We never felt rushed and enjoyed ourselves. Definitely will be back!

My husband ate here on Memorial weekend and had the beef enchiladas and shredded beef taco salad. The service was excellent and their salsa is tasty. My only recommendation on the taco salad is to add either rice or refried beans to the salad. It was kind of bland with only the the beef.

Thanks for dining with us! I will mention your suggestion to the chef for the taco salad. Our cilantro jalapeno rice is tasty and would be a good kick to the salad. I think I will try some today. We hope to see you again soon!

My wife and I have spent several weeks in Oaxaca. Oaxaca Restaurant has no obvious connection to Oaxaca Mexico. It has incredibly average tourist food at inflated tourist prices. Much better food is available in Sedona at much better prices. Service was prompt and friendly but could not compensate for the challenges in the kitchen.

I ate many times at this restaurant, for the past 11 years. I always liked it and this last time I ate there again. Initially I asked to be seated outside on their patio which sadly was not opened. We got a table in the middle and asked to be moved by the window which was not a problem. Our server was very nice, I wish I knew his name. They brought up chips and salsa, very delicious, warm, you could say they were just made. The food was good , although I feel like years ago was more tasty. I ordered a chimichanga. It took about 45 minutes from the beginning till we left . The whole sitting area gets very smokey due to the proximity and of the kitchen. Nice place overall.

We tried many mexican restaurants during our 1 week stay in Sedona. Oaxaca tops its all! We loved their food. Many vegeterian options. Good sized food portions. Nicely decorated to give an authenic Mexican vibe and ambience. Staff was very attentive and willing to customize dishes according to our needs. Highly-Highly recommended Mexican restaurant in Sedona.

Stopped here because our friends boss raved about Oaxaca's. It was quite busy but we were seated within 20 minutes and the hostess was friendly. The chips and salsa were good and the habanero sauce was decent (could be spicier). We ordered the fajitas, shrimp tacos and the enchiladas. The food was fantastic, ESPECIALLY the red enchilada sauce. The only negatives I can say is that the rice and bean portions were very small could have used a bit more and when the fajitas were brought out to another table the smoke filled the whole restaurant and it got really stuffy and irritating. Our server was nice and quick at refilling our drinks and chips.

Dinner was neither good nor bad. The chicken chimichanga required a good amount of sour cream and salsa to improve the taste. My horchata was served with ice which watered down the flavor. We had to ask twice in order to receive the habernero salsa as well as to get a cup to carry out an unfinished drink The bathroom apparently had not been attended to for a while as paper towels overflowed the bins. Prices were definitely reasonable.
