Actually visited (3 of us) at night on our first visit. We visited about 7:30 PM on a weekend and had called ahead for reservations which may not have Ben necessary. Vista outside was mainly lights of Sedona below and there was light rain but view was still beautiful. I am sure that daytime views are stunning as have been in the general area in the daytime before. Parking adequate and location convenient to downtown Sedona. Waiter was attentive and had good suggestions. Though lesser expensive fare available we all ordered something different and toward the upper dollar end of the offerings (i.e. trout and prime rib) .Everything was excellent and cooked to order. The ladies took the beef they could not finish home to have for breakfast. The smallest size prime rib was larger than anticipated. The tables were spaced nicely and though we could tell others were there we carried on our own conversation with normal voice volume. We did not partake of the “adult” beverages but they seemed to be well received by many. Even though we had more than enough food we did share an excellent single desert that the waiter suggested. There was none of it left. We were dressed very comfortable business casual or maybe a vacation casual and Felt at home. Tab for 3 before tip and without alcohol was $111.00 which seemed well in line with the meals we enjoyed. We made a new friend from Montana and found another good restaurant in Sedona.

Given the name, we expected to find a menu of routine offerings; however, what we found was a very upscale location on the airport runway with an innovative and eclectic menu which will please most any age diner. Although it appears to appeal to couples or small groups because it is not a particularly large venue, it is quite adaptable for families and has offerings for children as well. It offers a full bar with some very delightful specialty drinks. Our waiter, Ito, was very helpful in describing the menu items and offering hints for choices. My wife found the shrimp and grits to be exceptional and the bbq ribs were quite good. We recommend both. Although it is on the airport plateau, the siting of the restaurant does not offer particularly good sunset views, but you can get them outside in just a few steps. From the size of the crowd, it is obvious that reservations are a must; also, be aware that the airport is a very crowded place with people viewing the sunset, so if you are going around sunset, leave extra time for travel to the restaurant. Airplane buffs should like the location because it is right on a runway and offers excellent views of plane traffic. It is not a particularly quiet restaurant so probably not what you want for an intimate dinner. Just plan on being there for a pleasant meal with good service.

While staying in Sedona we heard a ‘must visit’ was the Airport restaurant. Unsure what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant literally sits on the runway high above Sedona offering incredible views as you approach. We went for an early dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender, atmosphere, and feel of this place was so inviting, I wish it was available at home. We’d be regulars. The food was so good, fresh and flavorful. I’m gluten intolerant and the bartender was knowledgeable in making suggestions. Everything was fantastic...don’t miss this place!

The Mesa Grill at Sedona Airport came highly recommended to me by several people. After watching the sun go down at the airport overlook, I decided to have dinner at the Grill. It was fantastic. I sat on the enclosed porch with heaters (cozy, less noisy, and was able to enjoy the mix of classic light rock). My seat faced the blazing fire pit on the lawn and the runway beyond. I ordered freshly-made (at the table) guacamole and a cup of chili. The guac was flavored perfectly, as I watched the server sprinkle salt, lime, sweet red peppers, onions and cheese over the smooshed avocados. The chips were the perfectly-salted, light and crispy restaurant style that I crave. The chili was the best I've ever had, seriously. It also came with a smaller side of chips for scooping, which happened to be the perfect way to gather bites full of beans and steak. I rounded my meal off with their salted caramel gelato - good grief. I was so happy that I wished I had another day in Sedona just so I could dig deeper into their menu. As it was, the portion of guac and chips was large enough that I took half of it back to my hotel and had it for breakfast on the drive back to the Phoenix airport the next morning. Still so fresh!

It is a rare occasion when you make a detour to have a great meal at an airport restaurant. This restaurant is that time! And this is no closely guarded secret. On a Thursday lunch hour, we were the fifth group patiently waiting a half hour in order to be seated. Mission accomplished! The crispy honey glazed fried chicken has to be some of the best fried chicken I have eaten in my entire life. The St. Louis BBQ ribs were well received. Even the fish-wich was tasty. In all three orders, the portions were more suitable for our dinners rather than our lunches. We got three takeaway boxes.

We visited the Mesa Grill while staying at the Sky Ranch Lodge. We had checked in in the evening and walked the short 5 minute walk to the restaurant. It is the only dining option so close to lodge without having to take the shuttle into town. The restaurant was busy and the wait was expected to be and hour and 15 minutes. They took our name and said they’d text us when the table was ready. We got a couple drinks at the bar while waiting. The bar was the best part of the visit- they had a full selection, local wines and beers, and even as busy as they were the drink order came quickly. We wandered outside where there is a fire pit and some seats. Those were full though so we went back in to wait. There were 2 single chairs in the front lobby that didn’t look like they were permanently supposed to be there. Everyone had to stand around to wait. After an hour we had inquired as to how much longer. The hostess looked confused when we gave our name again and we were told we had been removed from the list. Unsure how that would happen but it did. After a 14 hour travel day this was not a good start to dinner. Somehow we were able to get a table only a couple minutes later. The waiter we had was terrible. I won’t name his name but it was not a good experience. He had no personality and couldn’t remember to bring out the bread we asked for. He brought it after the food came out and just told us “no charge” for the bread. My husband ordered a burger with no mushrooms and it came out with what looked like extra portabella mushrooms smothered all over it. We couldn’t get refills on any drinks because he never came back over to ask how anything was. Needless to say we were not impressed. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre. Kudos to the bar staff for rallying to get one extra star on this review. I’d take the shuttle into town next time.

Our party of six arrived for dinner tonight at 4:47pm. The hostess says we have to leave by 6:15pm as they have a reservation coming in. We agree and sit to enjoy our meal. We finish dinner, order and finish dessert and the waitress has just brought back our bills to sign, here comes the hostess and says "are you leaving yet?" It was 6:17pm!! We know she said 6:15pm, but we couldn't go any faster than the meal and waitress served us. There was absolutely NO need for her to say anything. We were leaving. We just spent over $350 for the six of us and she made us feel like we weren't welcomed and were an inconvenience. Completely unacceptable. The food was good and the waitress on top of it but being eyeballed the entire time we were trying to enjoy our meal definitely ruined our experience.

We were told that Mesa Grill would be a good place to eat and watch the sun set because it has a 360 degree view from the mesa top. However, there is only a 180 degree view to the south, which is still a nice view, unless you eat outside, and then tghere is a 270 degree view. I had the fish and chips. The fish was breaded red snapper, and it was good. It was also a good-sized portion. My wife had the southwest pasta with chicken. It was flavorful; however, several pieces of the chicken had gristle in them, and she wasn't happy about that. The place gets really crowded, so make sure to get reservations if you plan to dine there. Most menu items cost between $18 and $35, the cost of a beer is around $7, and mixed drinks are around $10.

Enjoyed dining at The Mesa Grill. Both food and service were very good. Chose to eat here because of the option to eat outdoors and the setting. We were here for sunset. While the sunset at this location was not overly spectacular, it was still quite nice. We arrived at 445p about 45 min before sunset. The restaurant was already pretty busy. Although we had a reservation, sitting outside is first come first serve. We had to wait about 30 min for a table which wasn't too bad as folks arriving not long after us were being told that there would be over an hour wait for outside. Thought we would be sitting outside on the patio around the fire pit but it wasn't being used for dining that evening maybe because it was cool in the low 60s. Instead, we were given a table in the well ventilated glass enclosed patio which was very comfortable. A bit disappointing when the staff pulled down the blinds during sunset closing off the open area above the glass obscuring the view. The gentleman explained that the temperature would drop quickly which it does although there are heaters in the ceiling that would have kept us perfectly comfortable. Hate complaining about this stuff as overall we enjoyed eating here but there are lots of good restaurants in Sedona and the only reason we chose here is because of the outdoor seating and watching the sunset.

At 7:10 pm we ordered drinks , salad and appetizers. Our drinks and salad were served pretty quickly. Then we waited and waited and waited for the main course. Eventually the waiter came over and told us that the had forgotten to place our order. I've worked in restaurants before so I know that happens sometimes. I also know that when it does the waiter usually tells the manager so that he or she can tell the cook to expedite the order. I think the waiter just figured that since he had messed up , we probably weren't going to tip him well so just blew us off at that point . He made no eye contact with us and never bothered to c heck with us again to give us an eta on our meal. At 8:10 we finally waved down a busser to ask if she could find out what had happened to our meal. She went and got the manager who then came over to talk to us. She offered us free champagne or free dessert but all we really wanted at that point was our main course so that we could enjoy it with the drinks we had already ordered. In other words, please just get the cooks to make our entrees for us. We finally received them at 8:30.....an hour and twenty minutes after we first ordered them!!!! The manager was very sweet and the busser was very funny. Maybe the waiter was just having a bad night. We decided to take the free dessert they had offered us even though we were both already pretty full after we finally ate our entrees. In retrospect , I think they should have comped us one of the dinners or comped us two of the four drinks we'd already had while waiting so long . We tipped the busser who helped us when the waiter kept ignoring us. We even tipped the waiter what we normally tip waiters because we feel that tipping is part of going out. We just dont feel that the situation was handled right. The most important thing imo was to hurry up and get the meal to us . The only reason we even stayed and waited for the meal is that we wanted to use a gift card we had been given. Otherwise we would have left after the first hour had gone by and gone home and cooked our own dinner .

The food is very good with generous servings and very fairly priced for this area. Bar service and drink pours were great! As all of the crowds (dangerously) cross the street to catch sunset at the designated Sedona Airport Overlook, we passed right by that tourist spot and headed to the restaurant. Albeit a tourist spot (Mesa), what could be better than grabbing a drink from the bar, taking it outside to the fire pit to watch sunset across the airport and meet interesting people. Returning inside for dinner is optional and worth it. Make a reservation if high season.

The first item on their lunch menu was a chicken thigh served with a biscuit. My wife and I both ordered it. What was served was a bone dry, pounded chicken breast with corn bread so badly burned, it had to be taken back. We used to love this place but after this disastrous experience, we probably won't be back. Very sad performance for a Chaine de Rotisseurs chef.

It is rare that one takes a driving detour and deliberately goes to an airport restaurant for a great meal. This was that day. And the restaurant is no secret. We were the 5th group patiently waiting 30 minutes for a table. Mission accomplished. The honey-glazed fried chicken may just possibly be the best ever. The St. Louis BBQ ribs were wonderful. Even the fish-wich was a keeper. The portions are more suitable for dinner than for lunch and we all had tremendous leftovers to take away with us. They will be eaten!

We love the Mesa Grill! Great margaritas (Don Julio is my fave), salads, and entrees. I LOVE the red trout with green chile cheese grits. Their fish and chips are good, as are the crab cakes and shrimp and grits. Who knew? But the chef spent time in SC, so he learned shrimp and grits. Their inclusion of elote (Mexican street corn) gratis with some entrees is a treat. Our waiter Eddie was the best - attentive, kind, but not intrusive, as he was bustling the whole time. We will ask for him every time if possible. Make a reservation for ½ hour before sunset so you can have great views of the color developing in the cliffs.

Went to Mesa Grill for lunch. Service was pretty bad, despite not being busy at all. Plenty of wait staff milling around. Ordered 2 drinks and 2 appetizers, while waiting for those to arrive at our table; the waitperson took our order for lunch. The waitperson brought out our appetizers and within minutes of receiving the apps, our main course also arrived. Seeing as we were at a small table for 2 with no room to spare, we told him we weren't ready for our main order. Never got our drinks, but luckily we had water. On a good note, the food was good. They need to improve their service. Very disorganized.
