first of all this a small restaurant in the casino arizona. they have 18 tables so a reservation is very much in order. we had a reservation and were immediately seated. our waitress,Alsa, was very competent and was always there when needed. we had the...calamari appetizer and it was superb. i had the filet and my son had the strip steak. my filet was probably the best steak i have ever had. sides were good. prices were a little high but less than half what you would pay in other top end steakhouses. would happily go againMore

I reviewed this property in November, 2019. But I have no intention of returning to Arizona any time soon. So why has TripAdvisor listed this property on my website? I didn't request it. Please explain.

Relatively small restaurant in the casino specializing in beef options. Started with calamari which was quite good. The Chateaubriand for two was average. Good quality of meat and au jus and dipping sauce with it complemented well. The so-called lobster mashed potatoes were tasteless. Lemon...cake also okay. Service was pleasant and attentive. The prices are great for what they were offering. Not sure I'd go back but they did make an effort to create and serve a reasonable dinner.More

Friends invited us to their favorite restaurant at the Arizona Casino. We were surprised at the quality and quantity that this restaurant offered. We loved All the little extras like warm towels, a small scoop of Sorbet and at the end little macaroons! The waitress...was amazing with everything. She was friendly and very professional. The food was reasonably priced. Huge steak and perfect baked potatoes! Awesome crème brûlée ! Incredible dinner!More

We went there as they had Chateaubriad on the menu which is not common anymore . Pleasantly surprised with decor and service . The kitchen is in view from where we were sitting and we enjoyed watching the preparation. The steak bite appetizer was different...and enjoyed . Lots of little things were different and well done . Thanks to reviews on trip advisor we got to enjoy a wonderful meal while on holidays . Great prices as wellMore

Talk about a hidden gem. By chance, my wife and I discovered what could be the finest steakhouse in the Greater Phoenix area. After spending an hour exhausting our $20 allotment at the slot machines at Arizona Casino in the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale,...my wife and I decided to have a late-night dinner at the Cholla Prime Steakhouse and Lounge. Located only steps off the gaming floor, it looked every bit the part of a high-end restaurant, the recipient of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence for two years in a row. To put it mildly, we were overwhelmed. What a wonderful fine dining experience. Chef Daniel Skaggs really knows how to satisfy customers, specializing in such dishes as crab stuffed prawns, New York steak and elk tenderloin. But we had a problem: What to order, Chateaubriand for Two or Porterhouse for Two? Believing a 32-ounce porterhouse was too much meat for us to consume in one seating, we opted for the prime tenderloin Chateaubriand for Two. We started with crab stuffed shrimp, seafood bisque, steak and mushroom soup and traditional Caesar salad. For sides, we chose a roasted sweet corn casserole with Southwest-style cornbread and creamed sweet corn and lobster mashed potatoes with lobster meet and parmesan mashed potatoes. For dessert, we shared large slices of coconut lemon cake with white chocolate mousse. Open at 5 p.m. daily, Cholla has become a go-to destination for locals and travelers who want to experience a great meal when they hear about it.More

This rating is for the food, value and service. Cholla has a November special of 8oz filet & 4oz lobster tail with choice of potatoes & vegetable with Cesar salad or chopped iceberg. The salads were fresh, crispy lettuce, dressing plentiful and tasty. The steak...was very tender & cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was really outstanding. Could have done with smaller steak & larger lobster tail, but amazing as all of this was $37 per plate. Definitely visit again when passing through!More

This is our favorite place in all of greater Phoenix, even though you have to wade through a smoky casino to get there. Everything we've ordered here has been outstanding - particularly the chateaubriand for two - and the prices are surprisingly good. The people...are friendly and efficient, and the extra dry martinis are perfect. Our only hesitation in recommending this place is that more people might start coming and make it harder to get in!More

The food is always good and the prices cannot be beat. You might suffer from second hand smoke issues just to get there since it's inside a casino, but hold your breath. The staff is fun and attentive.

Was in the mood for steak, so we decided to try Cholla. We had a bottle of their Italian red blend, Alviana (sp), a little on the sweet side. I ordered their special, a blue cheese filet mignon. It was very tender, cooked to my...liking, and tasted good. The Cesar salad was ok, as was the cream spinach. There isn’t much atmosphere, a small room off the casino. Plenty of parking. Reasonably priced!More

We didn't feel too good the next day, and the only thing we both ate was the chorizo-stuffed dates appetizer. Skip that and this is a good restaurant at very reasonable prices. Quiet (surprising inside a casino), good service, reasonable wine list, decent food, decent...portions. Were it not for the chorizo, I'd give this 4 stars instead of 3.More

For a place that gives you an outstanding service, good food, and a good value in return, Cholla is really a good choice. I will choose it over any other chain-steak restaurants, which are more and more disappointing in my experience. For a meal with...appetizer and desert (minus wine), you can expect to spend about $80 - 100 (tax and tips included) for two people. I had a porterhouse steak, and it was very good. I highly recommend it. You do need a reservation though because the place is almost always sold out and it is hard to do a walk-in.More

We have been going to the Cholla for the the past 10 years for our anniversary. Every year we have been blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. I could go on forever but it would be nothing...that hasn’t been said before. I recommend you try it for some of the best food in in Phoenix.More

Other than a mistake with our reservation, which Yvette was able to rectify, our evening was great. We started with the shrimp/crab leg appetizer which was very good. Husband had the February special consisting of 10 oz NY Strip with salad and two sides, the...asparagus and baked potato..I had the Rib Eye with creamed spinach and baked potato..everything, and I mean everything was excellent! The service was extraordinary from the hostess, bartender and wait staff, especially Destini..I believe even the manager stepped in...did I mention the sorbet between courses? Nice touch...and we received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary..top notch and next time we’re in Scottsdale we will definitely stop back! It’s truly a hidden gemMore

This is a small steakhouse within Casino Arizona that is well worth a visit. The good wife and I would highly recommend the chateaubriand. It was cooked exactly as requested and we each had two choices of sides. At $43 for two, approximately 10 ounces...of excellent meat is a great value. I would also recommend the seafood chowder if you enjoy creamy chowder with lots of seafood bites. The shared chocolate cake was an excellent choice to finish off a delicious dinner. There was also a palate cleanser before the main course. Service was very good but not flawless. A couple of picky items - our wine glasses were not topped up and a used fork was taken off my side plate to be reused for my main course. It should have been replaced. We hope to return.More
