Fifth visit in 5 years and consistently a top experience, actually little tweaks improved since last time if that is possible, each course delicious and interesting combined with the service and setting make this place memorable and its no wonder they draw heavily from out...of state and even outside the USMore

Wonderful visit. Attentive and personable service. Cauliflower soup, scallop on corn puree, and foie gras were outstanding. Lovely overall experience with beautiful, thoughtful food! The atmosphere is gorgeous!!!

Reservation/hostess, great. Ambiance, 5/5. Music, classy. Food, exceptional! Service, as good as the waiter you receive. Daniel looked like he had a long day. Sounded like he’s done his presentation fifteen times already. Hands in his pockets and lacked enthusiasm. Avoided the table while we...experienced an unusually long wait for mains as if “maybe they won’t notice if I don’t address it”. The young man who assisted him was phenomenal though. Very personable, friendly and happy. He sorted out our concern in the most professional manner.More

Visited on a Saturday evening and seated in the courtyard. Service polite and efficient - very detailed precis of the menu (which was useful as (despite some lighting), you could really see everything on the plates brought out - which was a genuine shame based...on how they all tasted). Some nice shrimp to start, followed by an excellent pear and pork belly salad. A pleasant two bite venison course followed by an fantastic rack of lamb - couldn’t see what the sauces were but they seemed to go well with the dish. A pleasant banana dish to finish as well. Might have been nice to throw in an amuse Bouche or a palate cleanser ahead of dessert - they certainly seem to have the skills but not quite a Michelin standard experience. Would happily return but maybe eat inside with a better chance.of seeing what I was eating.More

We celebrated our anniversary at Cafe Monarch and I have got to say...If I could do date night here every Saturday night I would die happy. Our table wasn't ready so we sat at the bar for maybe 10 mins and eve their water was...probably the best water in the entire world. I'm not sure if you choose different infusions each night but it was so refreshing and quenching. We were finally seated at our table and the ambiance is so perfect for the evening. Candles were lit and the glow seemed to sparkle in everyone's eye. Very romantic and super Instagram worthy. We opted for the regular course meals and everything was cooked to perfection. Each course was a good size and portioned strategically leaving me just a little hungry for the next course.More

We arrived tonight for our reservation, 2 at 6pm. turns out our reservation is tomorrow night.. a senior moment. The young girl at the valet was about as immature and arrogant as one could imagine. After we established the fact that I was wrong about...the date of our reservation she informed me that the Monarch had a VERY strict dress code.. why would the valet tell me that? I was wearing a collared polo with my sport jacket in the back of the car.. I did not have tennis shoes on! WTF? we asked the girl, since we had made a mistake on the evening and we were ready to dine .. could we get into the Reserve (something new to me) instead of answering she giggled .. a silly little girl giggle.. We kept looking at her and expecting a word.. finally she said, in a rather annoyed manner, "They are completely booked", so we left. Really? You have these little girls acting as spokespersons for your business? We will return tomorrow because your food is so good .. Valet's should be seen, but not heard! How annoying she was, lacking tact and courtesy to your clients.More

In spite of the fact that we mistakenly came on the wrong night, they managed to find us a table on their lovely patio and offered us a glass of Prosecco while we waited. The service was impeccable and the food amazing (the cauliflower soup...is not to be missed). Just a beautiful experience, all the way around. I wish I could give it more stars.More

This is one of the most beautiful restaurant settings that I have ever been to. I also enjoyed the proactivity of the staff when one of them saw me take a picture of the fountain outside upon arrival and he kindly offered to take a...photo of me with the fountain. I had I’ve been dressed up a little more I would have gladly accept this offer and really appreciated it. My server was attentive and the dishes on the whole were very nice. I thought the pricing was more than fair for the setting, quality of food and quality of service. I would definitely recommend this as a nice fine dining option, especially for special occasions.More

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! Cafe Monarch has managed to turn a quiet side street Scottsdale space into a truly remarkable WORLDLY dining experience that you will not soon forget. It's on par with all the top restaurants; the French Laundry, Alinea, Attica, you name it they're...just as good if not better...AND RIGHT HERE IN OUR BACK YARD?!?!?! My wife and I came to celebrate our six year anniversary and I swear we were treated as if we owned the place; custom menus, a six course meal, incredible cocktails and champagne, the works. It was a perfect thunderous and watery monsoon night but the valet was free and had umbrellas for both of us. When the rain finally died down hostess Lizzy offered to take pictures of us outside and I wish we could hire her as our personal photographer she took so any great photos. Our lead server Michael was friendly and conversational, with Covid (hopefully) finally in our rearview mirror it was nice to talk to someone that not only knew what he was doing, but obviously enjoyed it as well. He guided us through our epic six courses and boom, just like that, two hours of smiling and talking over great food flew by. The owner Christian added the final touch to come by and personally congratulate us on our anniversary and thank us for coming in. It was just ACES all the way around. I can't recommend this place HIGHLY enough. Yelp should have a special star feature where you can give ONE RESTAURANT ALL THE STARS IN THE GALAXY...and it'd be Cafe Monarch. We will be back again; to celebrate ANYTHING and EVERYTHING; anniversaries, birthdays, births, deaths, last meals, you name it. This is where we will go. Thank you Cafe Monarch for an experience we will remember for always.More

t was a memorable evening/event—warm and friendly greeting by the Hostess upon arrival. We were introduced to our master server Michael and the evening went beyond expectations. The menu was diverse for every guest to enjoy. The 4-course presentation was well prepared, and the display...of the food was artistic and truly stimulated one's appetite. ( I was prepared with my wine selection in advance as the wine list is extensive). I had the vegetarian menu. The selection was impressive. The wine I selected to pair with my selection was the Sancerre 2019. Excellent! The overall impression my guests provided was one of surprise and truly impressed by the quality of the food and its presentation. The service was impeccable and one may even state, above all standards. I highly recommend the foie gras after the main entree and do pair it with the recommended Sauterne. Excellent! If you want a memorable dining experience and evening, Cafe Monarch is the place.More

I looked forward to our reservation at Cafe Monarch having heard about the place and how wonderful it was. Almost everything was perfect as an anniversary dinner; however, the biggest issue was the price compared to the food. Here is the thing - if price...is no object to you, I cannot recommend this place enough. I, on the other hand, had to convince my wife to come here. That meant that everything had to be perfect. Much of it was, but the price tag just needed it to be perfect. I cannot express how much I wanted to give this 5 stars, and I think if you choose well on your ordering, you would give it 5 stars. Here is my experience. There were two choices for the first three courses and we took one of each so we could share and try everything. The argentinian shrimp are definitely the winner for course one and I highly recommend them. Lightly fried with a spicy sauce and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. I would say the winner of the second course was the squash blossom. Just perfectly done with a cheese center, I would have licked the plate if I could have gotten away with it. While I thought the scallop would be the best of the third course, our night also had a salad with a frozen sweet gelato with pork belly and pistachios along with a wonderful bleu cheese of some kind. The combination was amazing and nothing you would ever think of on your own. We added on the grilled octopus, which I highly recommend if it is available when you go. On the main entree, this is where I stumbled going with an old stand by - the rack of lamb. It was beautiful. A full rack cut into chops on a bed of pureed apricot with peaches and spinach on the side. The rack had an herbed crust to it. It was so beautiful, but the flavors were muted. The fruits were nice with the lamb, but it could have done so much more to stand out. On the other hand, my wife had the frutti de mare, and she was the clear winner. The pasta and shrimp and lobster were absolutely amazing. So, if I had ordered all of the winners together, I would be signing from the rooftops the praises of the food. Problem is, trying everything gave us some hits and misses. Wine list is quite excellent with very reasonable bottles and some very over the top bottles available. We shared a cabernet franc ice wine that is something we got into while we were dating and they had it there. They brought us a dessert for our anniversary that was a white chocolate shell of a heart with cream and strawberries inside. They also provided a complimentary glass of champagne at the beginning of the meal. It was truly an amazing meal that I will never forget and will talk about forever, but I will also have to talk about it with my wife reminding me how many other wonderful meals we could have had at a fraction of the price.More

Just in Scottsdale for the weekend, Cafe Monarch was recommended to us by a local. We were seated on the courtyard, which is beautiful. The service was flawless, with every detail paid attention to. Cafe Monarch serves a four course dinner. All courses were delicious,...the shrimp course was outstanding. The Tete de Moine was perfect! My husband had the fruit di mare was served over pasta, very nice. I ordered the rack of lamb, which was the only dish that was underwhelming. Overall, a fantastic dinner!More

Such a great all around experience. Service was over the top, time between courses was perfect to cultivate great conversation yet never left you wondering when the next course was coming out, presentation on the plate was great, and the description of the food was...a nice touch. Can’t recommend this place enough. First three courses were a great size to really enjoy but not so much that they might affect your main course. Main course was a great portion as well. Certainly plenty to eat and the flavors were outstanding?More
