We had a late breakfast here, nad even at 10Am on Wednesday, people were waiting to be seated. We new then we had made the correct decision! I had the belgian waffle( served with REAL maple syrup) and my husband had the omelet. Lots of FOOD! Delicious! The best part was the bread( toast), thick sliced & homeade!

A bustling bReakfast spot in the edge of the university section of downtown Phoenix. We checked on googLe and arrived a little after 8:30 on a Saturday aNd were able to get a seat right away. Those arriving 15 min later had a bit of a wait. It’s not a huge spot but since it is breakfast things turn pretty quick.
We were greeted promptly, told about the daily specials then ordered beverages. A BIG Thumbs up on the delicious fresh squeezed orange juice-my fav. My wife ordered a couple of poached eggs with bacon and I got the crispy waffle (which also came with bacon). The food was delicious and stuff arrived without too much of a wait. Prices were pretty reasonable too given tHe food quality and service.
It was also a nice walk from our downtown hotel near the stadiums.

The foods was amazing and was homemade. Our experience with our servers was delightful. Everyone there waited on us. If someone seen you needed something they were on it! Love this place! I had a ham steak and eggs, thick juicy ham steak, eggs cooked perfectly. My wide had the same with a pancake, pancake was moist and had a sweet flavor. Highly recommend!!!!

Even at 10:15 on a weekday morning, Matt's was busy with almost every table occupied. I had the day's special: 4 thick slices of French toast with warm maple syrup, and a big juicy sausage, along with a cup of coffee that kept getting refilled. The staff was friendly, the prices were reasonable, the food was great.

On a recent visit to Phoenix we researched good breakfast spots. We decided to go to Matt’s and we were not disappointed. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.
I loved the home fries I had with my omelet and I loved that it was served with homemade bread and jelly. Another in my party had the waffle and bacon. Both of us dreamed about that bacon later that day, it was so good and so was the waffle.
Absolutely go here if you have a chance and you are hungry. We went on a Sunday around noon and waited about a half hour. It was totally worth the wait. There were many places to park on the street if that concerns you.

This breakfast is one of my absolute favorites to go for breakfast. The place is always buzzing because they simply offer terrific food for a good price. We went during the week and still had to wait, but it is so worth it. Locally sourced food and prepared with love....don't pass on an opportunity to eat here.

Seated within 15 minutes which was good but after that it was not a great experience. Service was so slow but it appeared to be just us. People who came in after us 15 minutes were served and gone before we finished. I asked our server for coffee refills 3 times and she never came back so each time I had to flag down another server. Food arrived cold and eggs ordered over medium had white slime in them, potatoes cold and not fully cooked or burned and cool bacon. My husband asked two different servers for water which never showed up.
Oh and the toast and jam were good.
We have been reading about this place for years and got the opportunity to go today finally. So sad but one and done for us.

Wow. Awesome breakfast. I had the daily special Eggs Benedict with potatoes. Perfectly cooked eggs and the home potatoes are absolutely fantastic. The fresh squeezed OJ was an unexpected surprise. The table service provided by the staff was the best I’ve seen in a long long time! My coffee was constantly being topped off by whichever waitress walked by my table. Wonderful place for breakfast... no wonder the “locals” go there! So should everyone else.

We had to wait about a half hour to be seated but it was well worth the wait. Possibly the best breakfast we’ve ever had! We all ordered omelettes, which were amazing, and also ordered pancakes to split. They have a jam that comes with the toast...put some on the pancakes and you’ve got magic. The bacon was out of this world as well. The waitresses move fast but that’s why we only had to wait thirty minutes instead of sixty so I was OK with that. They’re very friendly and attentive at the same time.
Don’t miss this spot if you want breakfast in Phoenix.

We had an excellent experience at Matt's last week. No wait, friendly staff, excellent food. I had the Skinny, which was so fresh and tasty. Only negative was too much dressing on the salad, but the frittata was excellent and the salad greens crisp and fresh. My daughter ordered the sweet and savory French toast, which was the daily special, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend.

The toast and jelly were great. My cheese omelet arrived with a hair in it. They remade it and the egg was like a frisbee with mushy peppers, mushrooms, and onions and no cheese! I had to ask for cream for my tea 3 times, My husband’s BLT had 1 inch pieces of bread and a very small BLT portion, bread 90%…filling 10%. The homemade chips were excellent. Very loud, terrible service, not returning. Very disappointed!

We stopped in on a quiet Tuesday morning around 8 and it wasn’t too busy. We were told to sit anywhere we liked.
The modest menu has all the basics and more. My wife enjoyed the thick cut avocado toast with a poached egg while I savored the malted waffles with thick cut peppered bacon. Both entrees were around $10 each. Another bonus was the fresh squeezed OJ (squeezed on site from the looks of it)-super fresh with just the right amount of sweetness.
The flimsy metal chairs and polished concrete floor made it a touch noisy but with so few people, wasn’t much of an issue. Service was friendly and efficient.

We’re foodies and just did a week in downtown Phoenix exploring its nooks and crannies of restaurants and bars#lovedowntown Matt’s is THE best for breakfast!! Loved it so much...we went back the very next morning💕. Excellent breakfast specials and service!! Must do!

I came here on a Wednesday morning after arriving to phoenix. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated momentarily. My boyfriend ordered the chop and chick, I ordered the hog and chick with ham, and his mom got the smashed avocado toast with a poached egg. We all ordered coffee and it was phenomenal, we’ve all had 3 cups each.
The only slight complaints would be; the avocado toast seems to skimp out on the amount of avocado you get. The other two entrees were great wholesome American country style meals, but they weren’t too flavorful. I personally, doused my food in hot sauce. But other than that, the food was good.
I was glad to have seen this is one of the restaurants’ Guy Fieri choose to visit and give his approval. I would come back here again and try other options.

We went to the Gilbert location. We sat after about a 20 minute wait, not long really. The server came right over and at first was great. After we placed our order however the food took about 40-45 minutes to actually come out. A server (not ours) came over and asked what we ordered so he could check on it but then never came back to let us know the status. Once our food finally arrived we were short one order, the waitress never put the order in. She did not come back to our table to tell us but sent another person who looked like a table busser to be honest. Finally a manager did come over and put in the order for our missing food and they did comp that order and another one at the table. The original waitress never came to apologize for the confusion or mentioned it when she brought our check! So while the food was good the service left a lot to be disired!
